Thanks guys. Almost anything can be saved with enough work and spare sheet metal. Some cars are worth the effort some are not, and worth it depends entirely on what the car means to you. If its purely financial, then this doesnt make much sense, so obviously I dont give a damn about financial gain from this car. That is good, because of all the mistakes and bad spots would need fixed and a real body shop would still charge an arm and a leg to do that.
Cant get much closer than living in the same state! Oh wait, yeah Wisconsin is closer than you are.Originally posted by milner351 View PostLooking great man - I wish you were closer!Comment

work faster damnit, I want to see this thing DONE!!!If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment

If you have heat, bacon, beer, a fenced in yard and a grill, I might just come down over the winter. You arent far from the wife's sister so if we can bring the dogs along, she could stay there and I could help you for a couple days.Originally posted by milner351 View Postif we were closer in this great lakes state - I'd be begging you to come help me finish the falcon.Comment

Have you ever worked for a few hours, found yourself feeling quite tired then looking to see what you have accomplished only to not be able to notice anything you have done? Sometimes it feels like that. Tomorrow though, we will have a full set of glass in the car.

Now, back to putting other parts that do not show at a first glance onto the car previously known as the rusty hulk that isnt even good for a parts car.Comment

That is the small hammer. I was using it with a center punch to mark the holes needed to screw the clips to the channel. The pins are gone after rebuilding the channel from scratch, and 65s had some of them screwed in anyway, which is where I got the idea.Originally posted by mlcraven View PostOne mofo big hammer on the package shelf! Were you adjusting some stubborn bits?
Tomorrow I need to pick up the windshield, install that and the back glass. Then finish the sanding on the grille surround and paint it. With luck that should all be done tomorrow evening about this time. Still need to pull the manifolds and shifter linkage from the LeMans, probably going to handle that while the paint dries on the grille parts.
I feel like I should have more done today.Comment

it always seems the prep days take too long, and the days of accomplishment are over in a moment.... my wife told me that now that I was done with the Corvette (because it's painted), I can get back on the Spider..... lol, I told her that the paint was the easy part, and the bit that took the least amount of time.... ah well, at least she's interested in seeing her car on the road - which might happen a lot sooner then later

I wonder that too, but the guy I got it from bought it in the same condition but with a few small parts he needed. Judging by the previous repairs and how much rust was everywhere, it probably hasnt run since the early 80s. I cant wait to see this thing going down the road under its own power with all its parts attached, that will mean all those parts are no longer in my shop taking up space.
Headed in to town to get the windshield in the next few minutes. Should have the glass installed by tonight and hopefully some of the other stuff it needs finished. When I got it I wondered how I would ever be able to put glass in it again because of the rust.Comment
