That sucks man! Car is looking great though. When I did the glass in my Mustang, I marked the clip locations with tape on the body. Seemed to help when figuring out where to apply pressure/force.

Wasnt the problem. It was just sitting in the channel as I looked for seal quality before I put the urethane sealer on it. Not entirely sure what popped it, but it fits nice. I'll check for a high point tomorrow or whenever I feel like touching it again.

On a whim, I looked at the LeMans earlier today, to see how the contour of the lower filler went, taped the glass lightly and it moved. So I lifted it out and hauled it to the shop. Must be something I am missing with the 3M window sealant that is supposed to hold the glass for longer than a year, or the stuff just sucks. Well the glass is glued in the GTO now, and I will tarp the LeMans until I can get it in the shop for the continuation of its build.

Front is in after a little massaging of the pinch weld, waiting for the sealer to cure enough to try and trim the thing. Might end up gluing the stuff on or figuring out how to make it look flush like a new car.

Back glass from the LeMans, not thrilled about it for multiple reasons, including now the LeMans is open to weather and this glass is scratched up, but dang it I wanna drive this thing and waiting a month for glass sucks. Please don't break while I do the rest of the trim.....

Maybe do like the old NASCAR guys did back in the day with straps so the back window doesn't fly out when you open the windiws
Dunno how that will keep it from cracking tho...

Lots of cussing, freaking out, listening to Deep Purple, and trying to have happy thoughts paid off. I got the glass in without cracks or chips, the trim is on (mostly fastened down) and now its a wait and see if it breaks on its own in the near future. Next time I have to get glass in this thing, its going to a shop. They can freak out about breaking glass.

Took it to the highway to take a couple pics. They came out nice. Soon I will get my nice camera rig and head to the beach for some magic hour pics with the lake behind it, perhaps a sunset or two. For now, this is what I have, along with a stuck thermostat, leaky trans cooler line, and no headlight switch.

Looks great! but...the big question...how's it run?

                                Well........

Um... Lets just say it NEEDS a posi rear BAAAAAADLY. No need to brake stand it, that thing will rip that right rear tire off the rim all the way into third and kill every mosquito in the vicinity with tire smoke. It does pro stock style burnouts. Seriously.

I took it for a test drive tonight after replacing the headers gasket on the drivers side, installing a stereo, making a new cooler line, replacing the thermostat, and getting the lights working. Still need to figure out a turn signal thing, no blinker in the fuse block.

One of the sockets was bad for the tail lights, so I picked up a couple LED trailer lights at WallyWorld today. I have a couple others, but I cut one a bit too small to mount it easily. Pulled the quarter extensions, yanked the lenses, and simply stuffed the LEDs in there and ran the wires out the socket hole. Clip and splice the wires, ground the LED, and bang zoom we have kick butt tail lights that are bright and don't take up much power. No need to buy more 1157s either. The front marker and turn lights were trashed, the sockets are done, the lenses I could fix, but instead I grabbed a couple amber LED marker lights, fit them into the stock brackets, and ran a wire to the turn signal harness.

Left to do other than drive it so the EFI can learn, it needs a speedo cable, probably snag one from one of the other cars I have around here. I need to run a wire for the fuel gauge, for some reason it's missing from the harness I got.Quite easy to do, so no big deal. Need to get the wipers on and working, might need a switch, might work fine, hard to say since I haven't tried them at all yet.

Need to get a new set of tires, thinking of 255 60 15 rear and 215 60 15 front, the wheels on it are too grandpa for me and the tires are obviously too small, both for appearance and because taking off from a stoplight will net me tickets from the EPA as well as exhibition of acceleration. A bonus, the girl I am building the the Cutlass for got me a birthday present. Two are here, 15x6 fronts, and the 15x8 rears will show up sometime later. Wish I could snag some white letter BFGs or Firestones, but they dont make them anymore. Mickey Thompson makes white letters, but I can't blow $600 on a set of tires right now. Probably going to get Coopers and turn the white letters in.
