    Joe, inspirational for sure

Hopefully I will get to catch up with you at either the Dead Man's curve party or Musclepalooza XII. Depends if mrs arrowhead's plans don't materialize (50/50%)

I had it built with by Dynamic Racing Transmissions up in Connecticut http://www.dynamicracingtrans.com/index.htm. I had to supply them all my Dyno Sheets and fill out an extensive spec sheet on the car and ET goals.

It is one of their fully rollerized Mity-Mite C4's that come with a Hardened Input Shaft, Blue-Printed Pump w/Wide Babbit Bushing and Teflon Sealing Rings, Solid-Strength Fwd. Drum, 5-Clutch Packs in Fwd. and Direct (with Kolene steels in Dir.), Rev. Manual Valve Body w/matched Servo and I put on an ATI cast pan and locking dipstick. I am using a Winters Shifter and no Trans-Brake, Foot Brake only.

The converter came from them also (TCT Converters). It's a 8" piece with a Furnace Brazed, Hardened Pump Hub, Anti-Ballooning Plates, Triple Bearing Package, Billet Stator, Chromoly Turbine Hub with Bushings and again was custom built for my application and specs.

This combo is ROCK SOLID durable and is very efficient with seemingly little power loss. Dynamic is a Father and Son outfit and are great to deal with, I would and have recommended them to anyone.

Great story and pix, thanks for sharing! I've had my Mustang since I got out of the Navy in '93. I was also in HS in '86 but instead I was rollin' in a gold 4 door '60 Buick LeSabre we called 'The Flounder'.

Since my engine mishap I'm upgrading from the 347 to a 351w stroked to 429. I'm thinking that my C-4 will need to be upgraded. Did you have yours built locally or is it one you purchased done from someone?

Love the upgrade shots and info...keep it coming!

Back to the track, yeah but not for long...After the first easy check out pass and then a second balls out run I noticed a puddle of red fluid under the car. Turns out that Ka-Boom and brutal shudder also cracked the case of my beloved C4 trans. So out it came and over to my buddy Tim's shop to get tigged up....

    V it out...

    Weld it up...

    NOW we were ready....

Stay tuned, more stories and photos coming soon......

So when I put it back together I went with Pro Gears from Richmond, strong stuff. Then I cracked open the Mark Williams catalog and ordered up a new Roller Bearing Daytona Pinion Support and a Billet Yoke, fix it stronger!

A new 9" set up kit, ARP ring gear bolts (not shown) and assorted hardware also were part of the new plan....

The Moser Spool magnafluxed ok so it was good to go...Ready to drop back in and head back to the track!

Thanks Brain and Dave. I love hearing about people that still have their first ride, very cool. And Brian, a quality part doesn't cost, it pays at least that is the concept I have always tried to subscribed too when I can afford it, of course. A lesson learned from that previous valve incident.... :o

More carnage followed by new shiny upgraded parts...One Saturday back in 2007, about a foot off the starting line I heard (and felt) a rather large Kaboom followed by an intense shudder as the car slammed back on the ground with a very abrupt stop. I had a street ring and pinion let go and with it a bunch of collateral damage. Notice the pinion support...

Cool car, Great story Joe! Love the photos, I wish I had taken more photos of my cars back in the 1980's. Nice thing is I still have both my first cars, one of which is a 73' Mustang Convt that I've had since I was 15. I can't picture ever really getting rid of it either. I just need to get my butt in gear and put it back on the road. Guys like yourself inspire me to "Get-Her-Done!" Dave
