You mead the GS? A few have been run at maxton before iirc low to mid 120's. They are kinda brickish need more than a mile to top out. Its still a blast and you would have a comfortable ride down and back! I think Al ran his once?

Started working on the P motor today got the wiring harness, FED and manifolds off. I put the long tubes I got off CL for $40 on looks like there is only one tube #4 I am going to have to clearance so I can get a spark plug wire on it. Making these work is going to be a lot cheaper than buying headers made for the different plug angle.

I had to use a 90* boot on #5 with long tubes on P heads - Accell makes some short plugs I hear, but mine all fit with the Autolites. Good news on the tubes.

                Low Fruit

Well the low hanging fruit that I was looking at got picked this weekend D/CBGALT was 139.377 now it is 166.715. Bill Reilly in his #2100 Camaro is now the record holder. Congratulations Bill!

That was the only D/Classic record under 140 I wish I would have gotten off my butt and got the new engine in the Capri. My goal was get the Capri to run 150 and set a couple records. Now there is one less record under 150. I can think of two directions get to work and hope to get one before they are gone, or put it all on Craigslist.....

Far as I know there has never been a manual trans in this car. I have just completed step one of the t5 swap! Install pedals if I never have to do that again it will be ok with me. The 73 302 and C4 are on the floor. Hope to get the P engine and t5 this weekend!

Having removed the clutch pedal from my shop-squatter '86, I have to agree with you. If it weren't for also replacing the heater core and ditching a bunch of weight "while I was in there".......... PIA.

By the way, does anyone understand exactly what holds the brake light switch in place? Or did Ford just depend on a wing-n-a-prayer to keep it in position? Weird design or mine is missing something.

                        • got the P engine and T5 set into the engine bay the long tube headers were a major pain I forgot to test fit them after I installed the starter so it all had to come back out so I could do some tube modifications. There is still a lot to hook up before its running. I don't know if I will be able to take a day off work to try to finish it or not. I really want to take it to Maxton this weekend. I may work on it saturday in hopes to be able to race on Sunday...

On a side note is there any down side running in third gear? With the 2.47 rear gear I don't think I will need 4th.

                          • 4th gear is straight thur the trans in a T5 as well as most all US 4spds exc. an SROD. 3rd goes down thru the cluster shaft and may eat alittle horsepower but shouldn't break or overheat the trans. Are you going to run synth. ATF in the T5?

                            • I was hoping no one would ask about fluid. Its an 87 case but has a NWC front bearing so right or wrong its full of VR1 50w motor oil. If it does not shift good I will try something else

                              • I think Tremec is saying 50w gear oil for them now cuz there's not Dexron ii in production? If it's good enough for them... : )
