Mater, did you find your dog leg? I can zip over to the local Pick & Pull and pick and pull if it's still needed. Coming from MI I understand. I'm still sort of freaked out that the Camaro ('78) isn't a solid chunk of iron oxide. Most of the Pick & Pull cars have decent sheet metal.
Google "Cape Fear Pick & Pull" and look at the inventory. Unfortunately it's just a list but you can tell me what to check out. No Mercs but a TON of Crown Vics of various years. You can input what you're looking for in the box on top of the listing.
I'll be out of commission for much of this week but after that I should be able to take a look for you.

as long as i do not use them wile the car is in motion and on public streets yes it is perfectly legal to hook it up. i do not plan on going around actiing like a cop. it was just easier to hook it up then trying to remove it. plus i still need the controler for them to be of any useOriginally posted by Stich496 View Postis it legal to hook that stuff back up..
it's all still in the 99 here.. but they did a better job with the wire'n.. everything has ford connectors installed.. they just unpluged connectors
and nope never found a dog leg all the cars i have found in the yards are in worse shape then mine so i just cleaned it up as best i could.
that would be cool if you could a crown vic/ merc from 92-12 would have the same rear section as my car so it does not matter.
check the inventory that have quite a few 3 93 4 95s and a 2000 all would workLast edited by Mater; November 13, 2011, 01:34 PM.Originally posted by Remy-Z;n1167534Congratulations, man. You've just inherited the "Patron Saint of Automotive Lost Causes" from me. No question.

I'll look as soon as I'm healed up. Those Crown Vics ought to be in pretty good shape - they usually are around here. I'll chop it as big as I can. Just pay for the chunk (shouldn't be much - they're pretty reasonable) and shipping and I'm happy.
How much of the inner fenderwell do you want? I can cut right behind the outer or reach back inside and take a deeper piece. I doubt that will have any effect on price but the shipping might be more.

well the car spit out three plugs when i ran it on the dyno att he local high school. made 2 runs then on the 3rd run at 5,000RPM at the top of 3rd car lost powered and started making the most alwful noise look and plugs 3, 7, and 8 are out still attached to the plug wires. ordered the insert kit and now waiting for it to show up
sense the car will be out of comission for the forseable future (probably most of winter becuase it si cold and i have no heat in the garage) i figure now is the best time to put on some shiney new parts i found on evil bay

besides the upper plenum and spacer i will also be installing a 70mm throttle body from a E350 ambulance (it had a 5.4L), deleting the mechanical fan, putting on under drive pullies, and maybe messing with the exhuast routing a bit. thinking of switching from glass packs to thrush welded chamber mufflers and having it exit before the rear tires
oh yeah with a gutted air box, 3 1/2" intake tube, and dual glasspacks on the 2 runs it averaged 184 RWHP and 233 RWTQ with 93 octane for what ever reason it always knocked on 87 and 89Last edited by Mater; November 27, 2011, 09:39 PM.Originally posted by Remy-Z;n1167534Congratulations, man. so much work for a 3 cylinder
do you have to pull the motor to fix the plugs?Last edited by SuperBuickGuy; November 28, 2011, 06:35 AM.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

hey it's a 5 banger :p
still has cylinders 1,2,4,5, and 6
it is recomended you pull the heads i have done it a few times at work and we leave the heads on the engine with that cylinder on the bottom of the power stroke with the valves closed. we put a lot of grease on the bits then vacume out the cylander and blow it out with shop air to try and get the aluminum chips out. the ones that remains just get melted and either become one witht he piston of combustion chmaber or luanched out the exhuast valveOriginally posted by Remy-Z;n1167534Congratulations, man. ordered some under drive pullies for it going to delete the clush fan on it. it will still have the electric fan that sits if front of it though. if it does nto cool it enough in the summer i will get a bigger fan and a temp controler for it
cool thing is allt he parts i am getting can be swapped over to a PI engine if i ever swap it outOriginally posted by Remy-Z;n1167534Congratulations, man. You've just inherited the "Patron Saint of Automotive Lost Causes" from me. No question.
