well recently the 99 GTP has given me the largest of fingers. the driver side window broke when it was lowered.... ####ing great

soooo sense i needed to get the GTP in the garage do to a comming storm i had to get a car out the lebaron is a no go do to no front suspention

so the merc has been sitting sence november with a 1/8 tank of gas, battery hooked up never removed it, maff removed, 7 cylanders and it started right up and drove out of the garage sence i was pissed at the GTP (it's been being a POS for a wile now) i floored the merc and managed to do a 7 cyalnder burn out with crap water varnish for fuel and no maf sensor

new enigne should be in friday taking it to a shop. the engine replacement is going to be cheaper then getting a window regulator for the GTP. the merc also has A/C

window regulator is $500 i could get a used one but not worth it. the shop (my old work) wants $200 to swap the engine

GTP is the silver 99 coupe. the GT is the green 97 sedan

well this morning at 7am i set out in the merc to get the engine swapped out at my old work. they been slow lately and had an open bay.

the drive was interesting had the PI 4.6 sitting in the trunk with he lid bungied down car would only run with the MAF unplugged and even then it stalled 10 times on the way there. going forward the car was fine but as soon as i had to stop it would stall also if it when into over drive it would shake violently and stall so i had to keep it in second to keep the RPM high enough and at stops i had to foo foot it. it also sounded horrible with a missing spark plug and constantly fluttering the accelerator to keep it running

wish i had a camera to get a pic of all the look i got lol

after i got to my work it was all very straight forward got the "new" engine out of the trunk then removed the hood, dropped the exhaust, dropped the trans (easier then trying to fight with it, unplugged every thing and got it out of the car by 10am

then the fun started had to swap over my wanter pump because i have the long style and a clutch fan (still need to hook up the taurus electric fans), the to coil packs, and my fuel rail and injectors as they changed when the engine when PI connector is different, also took this time to change the chains and guides, by 2pm the new engine started going in the car no issues at all just got ti back home at 6:15pm the extra 40hp of the PI engine makes a huge diffrences car runs stronger then ever need to burn up the old nasty gas and get some fresh in

next step will be body work still need to get a dog leg for the passenger side and some doors

the whole intake is plastic if the nipple broke that means the coolant cross over could crack at any time or the runners could crack expecialy the ones that are by the EGR

if i was strapped for cash or only had the one car i proably would just JB weld but i have plenty of cars i can drive wile this is down and i have the moeny for the intake. this also gives me an excuse to put the aftermarket goodies form the old engine on this one

but on the plus side i got the engine bay steam cleaned here is hwo it looked before the nipple broke off

That sucks, but at least it's a PI engine. I'm sure they've got a '00+ mustang to two in the boneyard that has the aluminum crossover. Hell, your old workplace might even have one lying around in the back somewhere.

i ordered a brand new one from ford. from removing them and replacing them at work i would never re-use an old one

made some good progress though and sort of a blessing in disguse found the root cuase of why the hose blew in the ferst place. bad radiator cap it's not venting so the cooling system just built pressure untill the weakest link let go witch happend to be the intake heater outlet.

it also seems the intake was off this engine once before and the guy that did it did not know what a tourqe wrench was nothign was tourqed down was able to remove some of the intake bolts with my fingers. it's also a dorman unit so it's basiclt a nPI manifold with PI ports. so it will get the correct ford intake only cost me $100 for a brand new one yay still valid employee discount LOL

also ordered a 80mm TB to go with the upper plenum i have. also going to change up the exhuast a bit cut out the clogged cats and get some rear mufflers thinking of using thrush chambered mufflers i liked how they sounded on my diplomat.
