      Re: my projects

Those heads look good in that fairlane!

Now - you need to sell the comet ( the tripower FE intake is listed ) and get the fairlane up and ready to rock and roll in the spring.

        Re: my projects

Neat collection...the Comet and Fairlane in partic. Obviously lots of guys are Mustang fans but I prefer the mid-size and full-size Fords. Good luck putting the big motor into the Comet, certainly a lot less hassle to go with a stroker small-block.

Is my truck rusty enough for a sticker?

Some thick metal on these old trucks, takes a long time for the rust to eat through it.

                Re: my projects

Decided to brave the cold and started working on the fairmont. Pulled the motor back out and disassembled it to id the parts. I had my son help me, a little bond time.

                That is some old oil

It's a roller. For a 1989 EFI it still had a fuel pump eccentric

Now I have to clean the parts!

                  Re: my projects

Yes that is a fuel pump eccentric on a EFI motor. The timing cover also has the boss for the pump, but it is cast closed. I pulled this motor out of a 1989 towncar. I think at the time some of the trucks had carburetors.

                    Re: my projects

It even has the 302 firing order and not the 351w firing order.

I think all no H.O. motors have that firing order, H.O. had the 351 firing order because they had a marine 351w cam

I think you'll be better off using your '87 heads, we can look at my '89 heads, but I think there is at least one cracked exhaust valve in them.

We can compare my '89 mustang shortblock to this one - maybe learn a few interesting things.

                          Nice work.

Started work on the fairmont today. Found a small rust hole that turned out to be a large hole.

So I headed to Smead steel and picked up some square tube started to fix it I ran it back to the firewall.

Wow, that rust looks pretty bad. Parts of my Escort are starting to look like that. How's the rest of the car? 5.0 in the Focus might be a better plan.

I think I'm going to check out that junkyard in that Tom was talking about in Taylor tomorrow. Need me to keep an eye out for anything?

Geeze Doug - the guy's got enough projects - don't start planting any more seeds about 302 focus wagons... .just find him a good trans to stuff in the wagon! ;D
