If I was going to turbo this car, I'd be all over a 6.2 since they're strong enough to do that.... but I'm not, this car is NA and going to be used for autocross and race tracks - thus the simpler the better. Thus, I'll save the $3000 and use the money to buy forgelines or similar high-quality wheels

    GM production BBC---259-269 lbs.
    Dart BBC----4.25" bore 280 lbs., 4.5" bore 260 lbs.
    World Products BBC----approx. 270 lbs.
    Brodix Aluminum BBC----160 lbs.

    GM production 350----181-187 lbs.
    Dart SHP block--------175 lbs.
    Dart Little M----------205 lbs.
    Dart Aluminum block---95 lbs.

GM 6.0L block--171-178 lbs. (cast iron LS series block)
GM LS2 block--103-110 lbs. (aluminum LS series block)
70 lbs - how much does $3,000 weigh? Plus, it's not on the nose, the waterpump is actually behind the centerline of the front axle.

let's see, so for 70 lbs.... I can build a 500 hp BBC with a power curve 3.2 miles wide, the 6.2 is 430 hp with a narrower powerband that starts further up in RPMs - honestly, it'll be interesting to see how badly I beat up on my friend who's building the 6.0 77 Corvette (he isn't yet convinced, but it'll happen )..... but for the 3k I'd save.... I can find weight savings elsewhere (not that I honestly think it matters).

Yep, you got me SBG. As a former C2 owner, however, I feel empowered to throw out the gold chain stereotype from time to time. If we can't laugh at ourselves, then we should do something else.

    This is becoming interesting.
it's funny, to me, how people tend to hate on the C3s, but really do like them with just the modicrum of change...

You're really not saving that much weight with an aluminum block vs. a cast iron block. While aluminum is lighter, you need a 1/3rd more material to get the same strength as cast iron.... plus... 6.2 = 378 ci vs. 427 ci. I'll go with more cubes.

It never occurred to me about aluminum weights until TA performance pointed out that their aluminum block weighs almost exactly the same as a cast iron block - for that strength reason.

the bottom is close to what mine will look like when it's done. I'm still working on whether or not 2" or 4" rear flares.

    But

I'm ordering the bits - fiberglass nose to lighten the car by removing most of the bumper supports. I'm also changing the lights to a pop-up but with HID lights
    2" front flares
    2 or 4" rear flares
and rear conversion to make the 75 look like a 73. Bonus is I get a spoiler

Ouch! Always an innocent bystander. (or is that Millicent Bystander?)

Greenwood....had to search that to learn more.

This one appeals to me personally. I could do without the rear window awning and the spoiler, but otherwise I like it.

I can buy a 6.2 LS motor for ~6000, add another 500-1000 to make it work
    or
I can build a 427 with a block I own, with all the good stuff inside and aluminum heads for about 4000
