  • Something like this, attached to your reducer inside the pipe... with some insulation around it - or not.

It'd be essentially like a really long bullet muffler.

oh, but do it to a 73 or an 82?

      • The Chalk and Mark crowd quit caring after the chrome bumper years.

        But I could be wrong.

Are you going to dyno it before you muff it?
        I'm still learning

thanks for the idea, but a cherry bomb is actually less money... strange huh?

to answer your question, read an issue or two of Corvette Fever - especially the advice sections.... as long as it says "Corvette" on it, they care. And, I remember the days when the C1s were not considered really worth much of anything (1955-62).

Why dyno? Also, the mufflers would be removeable

          • I'd dyno it just to see the affect of the mufflers. But if they are removable, its of no consequence.

I thought Corvetter Fever was a really bad movie with the Star Wars guy as the lead.

            • By the way, I think you've transcended the gold chain crowd with the side pipes.

But you still have to unbutton the top three buttons on any shirt you wear when you drive it.

Ok, I'm just slightly jealous, and its showing.

when I saw the movie (circa mid-80s) I wondered why anyone would work at all to get that ugly thing back.... in 20 years, my opinion hasn't changed

you do bring up a good point about dynoing... I could build both styles and run a comparison with open headers... that said, the amount tuning that'd require is already making me tired.

                • some trimming is required

and pins were made to fasten the side pipes to the car...

                      • Now with mufflers

                        the mufflers that were built
                        3" pipe

cut half way through with a cut off saw

weld 1/2 rounds inside as baffles

                        bolt into sidepipes

                            I winged it

what is interesting (at least to me) is the straight pipes smoothed the idle... and also, requires less fuel to keep idling with the baffles. Trust me, this car is anything but quiet; however, at this should reduce the face time with the donut-eating crowd
