finished(ish) up the Skylark, and got a bit done on the Corvette tonight
here's the skylark leaving the shop.... who says muscle cars aren't good in mud?

I bought a thumper cam for the car, and got affirmation about how wise of choice... the other cam is a solid lifter cam.... that would have annoyed me if I'd have put that in the car with a solid cam - especially since this is probably the car's original bottom end....

more work to do - put this together

    fill this

i have always liked the 80+ nose and rear facia on those cars

witht eh notch back window think that would work pretty well

is the rear window removable on your's? the 73 my college was restoring was a T-top car with a removable rear window

I had a 75 with the 80 front/rear grafted onto it.... I think it was parted out after it sat in the next owner's field for 5 years.... too bad, I need the calipers for this project (and its 4 speed) - they were new, ss ones.

I wasn't in love with the 80 front, I thought it made the front look heavy

I'm more the chrome bumper fan - my fav is actually the 73 which has the chrome front bumper with the slanted back

Who knows, this car may reside for the summer - with the removable rear window it's like having a convertible without the associated issues (mainly looking like a viagra swilling, 70s reject).

I put the rallys back on the Buick, I need to remove the aluminum spacers so the car sits low again (I fixed the driveway ;)) and maybe fix the dents and paint the hood flat black... give it the mean look - it is going to the swap meet this year, just need to figure a "it sells the first day" price.

newsflash, Centerline 10" wide wheels do not fit on a Corvette... dagnabit.... I still need to either find tires for the 8" rims I have, or another set of wheels for this little beastie.

                There, fixed it for ya.

A neighbor is restoring a 74 he wants cragars to match the side pipes, but can't find any with just the right offset and doesn't want unilugs.... He's probably going to stick with Rallye's - they do look "right" on the maco shark era vettes.... of course slots look good on them too - but the offset thing gets tricky.

If you're really going to sell this car when you're done - then the best wheels are those that are cheap, fit properly and are less ugly than the horrendous piles of chrome plated vomit that were on the car when you got it.

the interference issue is the emergency brake cable. If I were to completely remove the cable, the problem would be "solved".... which is probably how they did it in the day - heck, if I dressed in polyester, the last thing I'd need is an emergency brake cable

automatics dont need an e-brake, I do wish the one on my 5 speed car worked better.

I'm definitely glad the e-brake works like a champ on the Skylark (rear disc). I use the one on the truck when I park out on the street (decently steep hill). The Centurion's and Thunderbirds are rusted up or something, basically the pedals are very stiff, don't move far and things don't seem right, otherwise I'd use them on hills too.

am I the only one who's had to explain that the block of wood in my car is for parking purposes and not for riot purposes?

The brick in the car is for riot purposes.
