I dig your project, and thats because of all the upgrades and style...as a former owner of at least 10 g bodys from the 78-85 era,the dash in the G body Chevs have always been one of my most hated dashs ever..

I guess your Monte was sold new in Germany?.GM sold lots of cars there around 76-86..

Thanks for the explanation on the brakes.

Forgot to ask if the steering column is from a Grand Cherokee or a regular one.

Wow! This is bringing back some memories of my 80 El Camino build, except you're obviously targeting a more modern level of technology and the next rung up the ladder in craftsmanship. That's an extensive amount of frame work; I couldn't figure out why you didn't just get something solid from a donor -- then noticed you're outside the US of A. Presumably the German junkyards aren't filled with G-bodies?

              Good luck with the execution.

thanks guys! no american cars here in the german junkyards. there are a few car dealers here with crashed american cars but g-bodies are hard to find. better get stuff from the states and get it shipped

got some more stuff done yesterday

got the hubs on, steering link, adapter brackets. grinded the stock C5 caliper abutment brackets little bit and painted black. wire brushed and cleaned front frame braces - i'll weld another tube/brace to them like the sc&c frame brace:

love the work..those look like yokohama avids.(I like those too)

my locale needed all the same work. I had 3 of them for daily drivers. in maine that means rally car.
I have never had a car survive at the pace those went in longevity since.

all my dashes had full gauges, two of them had t-tops, all of them shifter on the floor...all factory. why the extreme steel dash? it is pretty, but just saying there is exact fit g body, even 115 speedos.

                  remembering these..
the last of 3 speed auto in a 84 grand prix le climbed to 200k and never broke the frame. in total contrast to what is claimed to go high miles.
the other two had the lockup. monte carlo SS
                  all 1984.
I liked the 1979 as the front end seems to have arch math to help the frame..they defied that as they got newer. I drove that year around as well, just not mine. little 267 lemon engine.

I love the 79 for structure, and think its ugly at the same time. being a welder on my own stuff.. I still like that one more.

some oddity with hit or miss on them. some could go tractor trailer in miles.

the front balljoint anomaly? I never had one.
the rear frame was the only error that got serious.

keep up great work. boxing in the frame is awesome.

that must have been an effort just to get a g-body to your location.

I've entertained thoughts of doing a similar build. G bodies can be great cars... One of the last full frame RWD cars with real actual bumpers.
