In case anyone has forgotten, lets have a look at the offending bondo chunk....
it goes all the way over to the door.
Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm curious about what's under that. I regret not sticking a screwdriver in there and prying it out before dropping the car off. I may never know now.
looks familiar....where have I seen that before...OH I know....IN MY FRIGGIN DRIVE WAY...
Glad its getting some love!

Joe, if that bondo blob wasn't all cracked and ready to fall out I really wouldn't care. I think you should get going on that Plymouth and patch it up with bondo or whatever and get it on the road. I've done that in the past when money was non existant.....I used to have a 65 Ranchero that had an enormous amount of bondo in it. Going thru a divorce at the time=no money, so plenty of bondo and Earl Schieb got the nod.

Mr. Rocket brings up a good point. Following the driveway body repairs (however they get done) nothing wrong with a MAACO job. They squirt a LOT of paint and most franchises do an OK job of it. The car will look solid and be all one color - WIN all the way around. Our local MAACO shop is actually pretty good, especially if you take the car over decently prepped (pull the lights, window trim, etc.).
Earl done my Suburban before I got it... Beautiful with overspray on trim and I guess they did not wipe it down before painting as the roof recesses have flaking paint and around the windshield they took it to metal and just painted it..
I'm sure properly primed and stripped cars get better results no matter who does the job!
My experience has been that MAACO is a step or two up from Earl. They seem to at least try. And they use Sherwin-Williams paint (at least locally) which is decent stuff. They're a bit more than Sheib but worth it IMHO.
Make sure whatever paint they use has a UV protection added to it, otherwise there won't be any color on it in 3 years. Many do not have it in their paints and you have to pay extra for it.
Lol, on my Ranchero they didn't even sweep out the bed. I found some pennies and nickels painted over. So, the paint job wasn't good but it looked better than before and it's all I could afford at the time.
10-4 on that, Rocket! Years ago a buddy took his old beater to Earl. He had removed the lights and some other easy bits and taped the car with newspaper in Earl's parking lot. He had the driver's window down to drive it up to the paint line. You guessed it - the entire interior was body color. He spent days with lacquer thinner uncovering the dash, etc. He never did get all of it off. I've never heard of MAACO doing that kind of crap. But the better you prep the better job you'll get, so sweep out the change before you take it!
We went over to the jail and visited the Cat Saturday morning. Looks like it's not getting out early for good behavior. Looks like a couple of more weeks to me. So I guess it'll be 5 weeks total.
