  • Low buck 318/360 stroker for a 91 Dakota-any suggestions?

This is going to be a low buck, cheap fun street/race truck.

Thinking of a stroked 318/360, how about some input from you
    Mopar guy's?

Check out "hughes engine" they have tons of stuff for the Magnum engines and even have build plans, i know guys who have stroked the 360 and they are plenty stout, I uderstand the heads and intake are what choke the magnum 360's....Mine is strong, runs great and has withstood abuse lesser enines couldnt handle....Its a good platform to build from IMO...Keep it low buck....lifters/M1 intake/throtte body/injectors/head work/shorty headers/3" single exhaust... have seen a like set up lay down 400+hp and it had a 100 shot on it...in a 99 Dakota...check out DTW truck Forum, they ae kind of uppity and stuffy but there will be tons of info for you there to pour over

It will be carb'd, that much is for sure.
A good basis, with hyd. roller cam, aftermarket heads and intake.

The Dakota is a 3.9l v6 right now.

My 434ci. If biult out of a 318 block ;D it has made 520BHP so far, at 5900RPM. That was with ported J heads and a solid roller cam. MUCH more to come ;)

If it's a Magnum block, there are a couple of things to remember:

            318 mags use a 360 oil pan
Magnum blocks cannot use standard LA heads unless you figure out how to oil the shaft rockers
Magnums use a different imbalance on the balancer

            Here's what I would do:

            '87 318 roller block (non-magnum)
            cast 4" crank
            Diamond shelf piston
            stock rods
nice custom hydraulic roller (230°+@ 0.050")
            Edelbrock head
            4bbl intake Perf RPM
            750 double pumper

I think that would put a pretty big smile on your face.

I like your idea, But I wouldn't use a roller teen block. They are a bit thin in the cylinder walls. Use an older block and grind the valley to clearance the roller lifters. ;)
