Thanks for letting me know! Last time I checked they were closed to new members. I'm sure there's people on there that I already know lol.

Just peel back the front of the top above the windshield about 4 inches across. Then hit the freeway doing 80-85 and the wind will do all the work for ya. Making sure no one is tailgating first would be a good idea for insurance purposes.
Gaskets are here and tomorrow the car is getting pressure washed. I mentioned putting a 302 in it and my uncle said he might be willing to donate a block but not the heads, so now I get to figure out how much that would cost. He asked what I wanted it to do...my response: "Go faster." Duh.

if you're on a budget, just say no to the free block. by the time you rebuild it, find all the right brackets, and get it into your car - you'd have been farther ahead to buy a done motor off Craigslist or even from a wrecking yard. You're not in a hurry, so start the search for the right motor - maybe you'll be lucky and find someone foolish enough to have replaced his SBF for a BBF in his 83 Mustang... that'd be the killer deal

Ah, but you see, once I get him hooked on the idea of working on it he'll magically find parts laying around in one of his garages to go on it. He's already gonna give me some aluminum valve covers that are just laying around...and the damn hood emblem whenever he finds it again. That right there is $50 saved just on the emblem. For the moment, though, I'm just ready to get my hands dirty again

while I get the whole girl-building-a-mustang-uncle-helping thing as motivation; I simply hope that it turns out better for you then it has with others who did much the same thing

the SBF -> BBF brackets are easy. Make sure the BBF has an alternator.
The 302->255 is a bolt in... E7 heads that come with any 87 up fall off of trees.

Arent the 255 brackets the same. I have a buddy who scraps E7's all the time. Seen a set of gt40's for $50 in BG couple weeks ago on CL. What year is the Block would be deciding factor for me. Roller cam with forged pistons are in what 87-92?
