Carpet is nothing but a memory. It is like riding in a tin can.
    Another shot from last night.

The engine bay turned out really nice. You guys are gonna do the whole car that color or do I spy a couple of stripes forming? Should make it faster.

All red. Possibly some stripes in white. I believe you are spying the black cowl vents

Got a box from summit today.
pipemaster to use as a guide for the notches on the cage tubes, and a $23 clearance stainless thrush glasspack that answers the what kind of exhaust question.

Been driving around in the BMW on and off for a couple of weeks and the motor work all seems good. Time to get back at it.
            Sunroof and windows be gone!

75 pounds lighter now that this is out

            Fit the main hoop

moving to the lift bay, who needs seats?

Looks like she's lost some weight, sitting up much higher on the coils now, like a 4x4 kinda. Haha.

Forgot to post this last week but we drilled holes in the floor board to push the cage through so we can weld the tops of the bars.

Tonight I removed the last obstacle for the cage install to proceed.

                  Hoping for sparks on Sunday!

Got the two down bars and the windshield bar cut and notched. The dash bar seemed to have too much angle in it. Will call the cage guy tomorrow.

You can see what the plasma cutter did to the doors in this picture as well.

Well I called the cage kit guy and he said they had sold several of those without any issues. He wanted some pictures and we would see about bending another one. Well this meant I had to run out to the shop and look at it again. Turns out the bar is fine, it was an id ten t error (id10t). The down bars were pushed up against the side of the car. This left no room for welding. Once the bars were out from the side of the car the same amount as the main hoop all was well. It is amazing what a second look with fresh eyes will do for you sometime.

This also means the windshield bar needs to be notched again to make it a little shorter.

                        Good day today:
                        Notched some tube

Scraped freakishly heavy sound deadening material out of trunk

Cut holes for the rear bars and X brace to go through

Finally made the dash bar fit

Worked on the car but nothing photo worthy. Cleaned seam sealer and paint for cage mounting pads. Cleaned sound mat off the inside. Next time we should finish the x door bar for the passenger side and the foot protection bars. Ordering a x brace for the rear down bars on Monday. Once that is here and fit it is time to do the final install on the cage.
