I'm saying this with a grin on my face. My wife's manual, awd, BMW wagon arrived on Friday.

why did SBG post in "project cars" you might ask. SBG would respond that is a very good question. My wife is now making a list to "fix up" her car.... aka she's got a hobby car (though, it must be the best kind because she seems to think I'll be doing the work.... probably will, truth-be-told).

    So here's the list
    fix the known things
    Lower control arms, CV boot
Add a second battery and isolator
put in charging ports for her batteries
    add a computer docking station
add window screens to keep the idiots out (you know them "look at that nice, growling dog" "hey, your dog bit me"
add a cooling/heating system that works without the engine being on
    add an interior fan
    tint the windows

this one is the one that gets me

    add a turbo

yeah, my wife, the Prius encumbered woman, wants a turbo on her new, manual wagon.... I'm just so proud of how far she's come in such a short time

You going to add electric AC? or just an air circulation system to keep it cool.

Everything on the list makes sense.... Even the turbo.... Gotta get there quickly...
Read somewhere that all else being same, adding a turbo increases effeciency and mileage....

It saddens me that you have to go to europe to get a wagon at all anymore - especially one with a man pedal and awd.

This is going to be another fun one to watch. Your shop is just over flowing with WIN lately. Well done.
There's always something new to learn.

Electric HVAC.... why does a vision of a cast-off Volt battery strapped to the roof spring to my head?
Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

some people get all pissy about the Volt, I say they came out with an awesome, lightweight battery I'm pretty certain I'll use those batteries to pull this off - though not quite as many. There is a space between the spare and the rear floor that would be perfect for a nice bank of lightweight batteries.

I needed another project like I needed another hole in my head - but how can you say no when this entire situation is so full of win?
