I Bought My First Car Today!

First i must confess something: i am a hypocrite. I've started so many threads asking "what should i buy for my first muscle car" and other threads like that. Well i still love muscle cars to death, i did not buy a car at all. I bought a Jeep. It's an 87 Wrangler 5-spd with the 4.2 I6. I dont know why i've fallen in love with jeeps, but ever since my dad brought home a TJ 2 years ago ive wanted one. Now my first car (as in the first one i bought) is a Jeep. Im so excited its not even funny.

Right now i dont have a ton of money, but eventually im going to lift and lock the thing (maybe a Ford 8.8 rear). Also im going to herculine the interior and put my BFG Mud Terrains on it (off my explorer).

Anyway, im just really excited to finally BUY my own car. Ive been saving for awhile now, and its paid off. Insurance isnt even that much.

Looks cleaner in person. Ill get more pictures up tomorrow. Dig the homemade front bumper

I have never understood the attraction of a Jeep...I just don't like them

I had a red '87 too! Sold it to help finance my Camaro!

The '87 came with a Pugeot transmission, which happens to be a bit delicate. Don't be too crazy when you get bigger tires! The 4.2 is a solid motor...but was always plagued with carb problems! The throttle shaft bushings wear out and create a vacuum leak.

I did a TPI swap into mine and put in a 700r4 tranny. I shopped my A$$ off and got it done for under 3 grand! It was the 305 TPI motor, and it would chirp the first to second shift with 33" tires ..lots more fun with more power!
