Was that a cast or a steel flywheel? So the scatter sheild did not stop it? what good is it?

This is why I get the willies when I see guys standing at the side of an engine on the dyno while it's running. Most common failure is the driveshaft/coupler but other stuff does happen. Even a thrown belt can hurt you badly. If you have to be in the room stand in front of the engine.

Boy, when you guys get started on flywheels you really get going! I doubt a BBC 454 will see much time over 5,000 rpm's. But I'll take all these flywheel posts into consideration if we can move on now.Last edited by 1946Austin; February 12, 2013, 08:17 AM.
