Well I guess i could call this a yearly update since I haven't updated this thread for a year...
High expectations is still being slowly built I taught myself how to rebuild a 700r4 with studying books and a few videos now starting to work on the modifications to the bed and frame boxing its all been a great learning process but as always hings get in the way..
After the new torsion bars where ordered I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on a 2003 Zr2, I wanted a 4wd truck for winter use and to give the Xtreme a break...
The Zr2 needed some much needed attention to keep her running after 2 days the intake gaskets let go so that lead to a cooling system overhaul.
Of course it had to have personalized plates
It was starting to run good after a much needed tune up, then i started looking into bodywork and ways to fix the third door issues so I was starting to look for two door extended cabs and beds with less rust and less bondo.. after a while of looking and not finding anything, I heard news of a 1998 zr2 with no title and no motor. The owner said "If you can tow it you can have it." and I was skeptical at first but it ended up being a great deal
The truck had hit something and bent a frame horn but with the parts i need the frame was the last of my concerns.
At this point in time the firestones that came on the truck are worthless on wet roads. so I decided to go with a tire that is more widely available than the 31x10.50x15 that came on the truck and I ended with a 265/70r17 on Z06 replica wheels.
