We are planning to install power brakes and steering on the Mustang in the near future. We have actually had both kits for a while. I finally pulled the trigger on the tool I needed for the brake part of the project:
Got it from Summit and it had good reviews. Not cheap but it will be nice to be able to make our own lines.Chris - HRPT Long Haul 03, 04, 05, 13, 14, 15,16 & 18

Eastwood offers the same tool under their name . I've got one and it's awesome . They also offer a 37 degree head so that you can flare lines for AN fittings , got that too .Last edited by langleylad; April 13, 2017, 04:49 PM.

Here's what you need to do on your suspension.
Here are the lower arms. They have mono bearings instead of rubber bushings.

If your car has manual steering it going to have a 19:1 box, that should be pretty easy steering. The last Mustang I drove with that box I thought it had PS. I would suggest adding fresh grease to the box. Don't use the moly grease, use the red synthetic chassis grease used in GM or Japenese cars. Here's a link on lubing the box
Here's something else you can do to. Replace the rubber bushing in the idler arm with this bearing kit. Check with him first, I think some of the aftermarket idler arms have different diameter bushings. http://opentrackerracing.com/product...-falcon-comet/
If you go PS, contact this guy. He has a excellent reputation for his work http://www.chockostangclassicmustang.com/
I've done a LOT of front end work on my 66. Any questions about it, I'll be more then happy to share.

Thanks for the info Tom. We are OK with the stock suspension bits for now (except steering gear). We already have the power steering conversion kit:
Free Shipping - Borgeson Power Steering Conversion Kits with qualifying orders of $99. Shop Power and Manual Steering Conversion Kits at Summit Racing.
If we ever do go all out on the suspension, I'll be in touch.Chris - HRPT Long Haul 03, 04, 05, 13, 14, 15,16 & 18

I just wanted to show you what's out there. The adjustable struts are a good investment. They'll keep the car straight under braking, especially heavy braking. The stock strut bushings compress inconstantly. Plus you can add a little more caster. You should run the car with at least 2* caster. The more the better.
The Borgeson has been hit or miss with the vintage Mustang crowd. Some have had leaks with the box. other love it. Here's a link. there's plenty to read about the Borgeson on the VMF. http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/vi...ifficulty.html. The VMF is also a great resource in general. It's a very, very active forum.
Seriously though, you can really transform the handling of these car pretty easily and cheaply. It's a night and day difference.Last edited by Huskinhano; April 18, 2017, 03:28 PM.TomOverdrive is overrated
