Love the car! Does it still have the 7.5 rear? What ratio? Are you going for a drag car other types of racing?

If I got to spend your money, I would get a higher rise intake those low rise eddies are great for a truck but they run out of breath. Rear end upgrades includeing aftermarket axles c-clip elims (A low HP stick car can break the stock axles) and 3.55-4.10 gears. Then sticky tires. If you still have more money I would get rear control arms.

It has the 7.5 in it right this second, but I have a 8.8 I have to put together for it will have ford racing 3.73 gears after market axles, and strange c clip eliminators and a fresh set of clutches in it.

I am mostly going for a drag type street car. Kind of low profile will still have the factory dual snorkel air cleaner and hopefully the factory valve covers.

I am intending to get a Edelbrock RPM intake and Holley 650 double pumper to put on top. Still have to locate these parts. I am having a hard time finding a used 650 and don't really want to pay new prices but may have to.

Rear control arms are in the list of things I want to get done not sure it is going to fit in the budget before spring though.

I never thought when I bought this car it would become quite this much of an obsession but I can't wait to get it faster.

Lol Foxes will do that to you! I wanted a RPM air gap for my Capri, but did not want to spend the money. Ended up with a used high rise weiand stealth, even with the same edelbrock 600 carb it was whole new car. I do have hood clearance issues, but you may have better luck with the factory scoop on the mustang

Edit: just noticed your car does not have the scoop like BBR's car used to have. might need something scoop or k frame spacers to run high rise. I just dont have an air cleaner but I am hack and the Capri is a trailer queen so its ok.

I think I will be ok. I have a 1 inch spacer on the performer to clear the valve covers. The rpm is only 1 inch taller than a performer if not I will make adjustments somewhere. Guess that makes it not really a highrise but seems to do well on the set up, according to everything i have read.

I still have to order 26x10 slicks to go on my wheels also. My 28x10.5 that came with my wheels are not going to work.

Yes I do keep eyeballing your scoop. Maybe if I run out of room you will have mercy on me.

                  I would be too...

Convertible motor mounts are "supposedly" a little lower although I have no proof - if you run out of hood. There's a brace you can cut, right?

26's and a 3.73 would be be a little longer than a 28" and a 4.10.. with the 3.73 / 26" tires, 5000 ish or thereabouts in 4th is 103mph, maybe 108 , 110 or so.. 5400 or so through the lights will be about right with the heads and mild cam. Maybe some more since your car is probably lighter than an EFI car, but you guys are UP there in elevation. When are you doing the head swap?

Hoping to start on it in mid January. I want to get most of the pieces together before I pull the motor. I am pulling it because it leaks oil from both ends and the oil pan gasket. I need to get all of that sorted so that I can park it in the garage with out a pan under it.

Very high in elevation. But I will probably travel some and do some other events if I have time. Will definitely do Ford vs Buick and I would love to do Dragweek sometime. Maybe one of the fun ford weekends or something like that. But mostly just the track here having fun with it.

yes - rubber one piece pan gasket with metal inserts/washers at every bolt hole - worth the price!

Well had a productive long weekend. Pulled the motor out of the car to find out what I had. I was told correctly that it had a crate motor put in it. I don't know whether it was a rebuilt crate or what but it does have all the hatching on the cylinders and looks great on the inside.

James (BBR) always joke about pulling a running car apart. I pulled the mustang out Saturday morning and then backed it back into the garage. Well I sent him this pic "How did I get here".

Here it is out hanging on the engine hoist.

Heads off. Man everything looked good.

Here is the cross hatching on the cylinder walls not ridge or anything.

The fun pic of me standing where the motor used to be

My wife had fun making pictures for facebook when I got the heads so I thought I would share

likewise... get the numbers off of behind the timing gear if you can? Maybe they will give a clue as to what kind/grind of cam it is.

I read alot of those articles before deciding on heads. I can only hope to get 90 horsepower out of just heads. But I am going with a lot of other upgrades. I am deciding on cam yet probably not using the cam that it is in it. I am considering a custom grind cam that the guys over at corral all talk about.

I pulled to reseal the bottom end you would think it is old by the way it leaks, but it isn't they just used really poor quality gaskets and it has set around alot. The guy I got it from said he was told it had a new crate motor put in at 100,000 miles and it has 104,000 miles on it now. I didn't really believe him but now i have to say, yeah i guess he was right.

Looking for some long tube headers now and a RPM or RPM Airgap intake now.

Got a Holley 650 double pumper in the other day.

Getting itchy to get it back together.
