  • keep in mind that the engine in this car is never really loaded in normal driving...

And it does not conform to normal rules about efficient operation, either. It probably burns more fuel idling, than a typical small block does cruising down the highway

        • My BBC doesn't even smooth out until I hit 2000 rpm's. Below that I can still feel the cam lope. And my decibel sound level changes radically at around 2500 rpm.

          • Mine changes around 3500 when I'm racing, I can't really tell when I'm driving around. It's just loud.

I like cake and eating it! .. Kinda knew my guess was high merely because he is running dual quads, compounded by a blower...

Well going from 3.70 gears to 2.47 gears is at least a 33% reduction in rpm, and at 10mpg, he went up more than 33% in fuel mileage. Though I suppose expecting double was ambitious

                        • Will the drive shaft be too short? I know you can fix the floor and cross members to make them fit.

                          • the Chevy II is designed to not have anything modern like a GV overdrive. It's not getting one, as long as I own the car. That's not what this car is about. Sorry.

                              • yup! but a 30% improvement when you get 7 mpg adds up to some real $$$. A lot more than a 30% improvement in a car that gets 20 mpg.
