Another thing about the VFN front end, it's not really designed to be a tilt, it's designed to have a hood pinned to the top of it. Definitely a modern design.
But if I could find a nice old used tilt glass front end, I'd use itMy fabulous web page

I can imagine the collector pointing at the ground at an angle, a cap, and a 2.5" exhaust coming off the side of the collector, down the rockers, and dumping before the rear wheels. Why 2.5? Because it's gonna be loud enough with the panels resonating and no carpet / very little heat and sound deadening. Why down the sides? So when you uncap it, you can drop the 40 pounds of mufflers more easily.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

It looks like regular Hooker BBC Chevy II fender well headers (2280) would work.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

The Hookers are about $500 past the budget limit. Beagle has the right idea for the exhaust system, although I'm really hoping to get some tail pipes on it too. The mock up uses 1/4" solid aluminum rod to model the header tubes. There's a $145 header weld up kit at Speedway that I might get....I also have some old unused Hooker headers for the 61 belair that I could cut up and build to fit this car, they're chassis headers, with one tube that goes outside over the frame rail.My fabulous web page
