Been a while.. update
- got the A/C charged - found and corrected a wiring ooops... the PCM was not turning the A/C clutch on when it was supposed to ..
- got the tach working - it needed a 1K ohm 1/2 watt resistor between +12 and the tach signal input wire..
- finally have the cruise control installed and working - this completes all the wiring
- went to the dyno (eddy current) and after tuning a bit made 330 #/ft and 340 HP at the wheels... this engine is crying for boost.. 8.5:1 it ok but you got to wring its neck a bit before it wakes up....
What is left is to get a new drive shaft made up and reset the driveshaft angles..... and minor trim assembly - dash and console...Last edited by efi-diy; August 27, 2014, 11:14 PM.

Also found that for some reason GM made a pin out change on the MAF sensor - idiots.
GM has used 2 MAF types - the black round type and the newer blade type.
The older black one is pinned as follows
PIn circuit
a MAF signal
b IGN (+12)
c Gnd
d IAT signal
e IAT low ref
On the BLADE TYPE
PIn circuit
a MAF signal
b Gnd
c IGN (+12)
d IAT signal
e IAT low ref
Why the hell they swapped the +12 and gnd ???? IDIOTS

After getting the MAF working I started to add fuel to the MAF curve. A the low flow end it took almost 8X the fuel to get the AFR correct. This is on a 4" pipe. Then we found out the MAF signal is noisy - I installed the MAF bung to close to the 90* bend. GM recently added instructions on how to mount the MAF sensor. If has to be a min of 10" from the throttle blade.
