  • Flying Solo, Documenting your progress

    Howdy,

I think this is the place for this thread but I'm sure it'll migrate where it needs to be.
I live alone and I work on my car alone aswell. I would love to show people what I'm doing but most of the time I'm too busy doing to take pictures of it. I'll get a few at mid points but unless I know I want pictures to put it back together again or its a specific project I'm recording I tend to just roll with it.

Those of ya'll that also work solo how do you remember to take pictures and not just carry on doing the work?

I keep a cheap digital camera in the top of my tool box. If/when I take a break I'll take a couple of shots. Then just before I close up for the night I'll take a couple of more.

I do tell my wife to take pictures too if I'm busy like belting in the kid for his rookie run in our rookie car at Bonneville this year.......

It's just something you get use to doing to keep some record of what you're doing. Wish I took more pictures is something you always hear the older guys say, don't be one of 'em

There are very few people in this world who's opinion I value, you are not one of them.

I just stop every now and again to get something to drink or take a break, then I get out the camera. I very seldom have any help with the work I do. Sometimes my neighbor will help with bleeding brakes or giving me a third hand. It's one of the reasons I'm never in the pictures I post.

I forgot, when you have a memory like a sieve, it helps.

I almost always work alone, except when Terry comes by or I hire a welder or something. I'm also bad about taking pics. I MEAN to, but forget until the thing worth taking a shot of is past. Oh, well.......

I try and remember to take pictures on my frequent breaks, but sometimes a lot of work gets done in a short period of time. Oh well :-\

I work alone 99.9% of the time. I usually take pics at the end of a night's work or when I want to remember something I'm sure I will have forgot in 6 months. lol

I leave the camera on the work bench....that way I can take a pic every time I have a smoke....

I never get alot done in a short amount of time! We had 4 digital cameras and now were down to 1 . Someone tore mine up,so I don't take many pics.

I work alone 99.9% of the time as well. I take a few pics but not to document for reference, just for my own enjoyment. I for some reason can remember how things go together very very well, but when I know I am gonna get stuck, I usually sketch something out on paper

I make sure I take a pic of paperwork and stuff I write down along the way. That way if the paper gets lost or the dog pukes on it or whatever, I still have a copy. lol
