    Re: 70.5 camaro

only problem is that is a casting mark on all the pistons, not a broken mark. they are trw pistons gotten from johnson's, lol so who know where they came from i tryied to cross the numbers they dont match anything from current day catalogs. so i guess the question of the day is why was cylinder one full of oil and there is nothing wrong with the piston?

Did anyone notice this is a forged piston and the rest are cast?

That's no casting mark. That brace goes all the way to the other side,
and I can see a angled edge. Pull it, bring it to work tomorrow.

if you look exactly oposite of that ridge you will see on the other side of that piston what you are seeing. so i went out and rotated the crank until each piston's skirts showed and pictured them, you will notice there is only 7 pics' the 8th is out allready

wait sorry i see it now, thought you were lookingh at something else.

                  ok here

#4 piston at least i dont have to pull both heads to find it.

and no i'm not putting the piece in it to take a picture, lol. but it does fit pretty good, but still why was #2 filled with oil? the truck sat for about 6 months, it smoked from the time i started it up. has never smoked before in its life. '

oh and here is the donor truck, sorta it was the engines 2nd home.

Is the cam ok? did the #2 plug just get fouled and no one bothered to change it? broken valve spring? all kinds of fun possibilities come to mind.

nothing, #2 was soaked in oil, but like i said its been about 6 months since it has been started never smoked befor. the spring rotators make it hard to see a broken spring but visually no, everything looks ok.

                          Re: 70.5 camaro

the only time it hasnt been intake up was after the engine was drained and after i found the chunk in the pan, i rolled it over to see inside
