  • Taurus SHO Wagon

I know that my wife and I are not right in the head but I was VERY surprised to see how many people actually thought this was a cool idea.
Basically we miss our old daily driver, the 95 Mercury Grand Marquis with a twin turbo V10 in it. Our Fairlane wagon replaced that car. The Fairlane is cool and fun but not much of a daily driver.

So here is our solution to a fun family car.
    A 400whp Taurus station wagon.

Here it is when we bought it about a month ago. An 80k mile 1 owner Taurus wagon.

    Here it is now.

It still has the stock drive line in it but I plan to have the SHO engine and 5 speed in the car by the end of January.

The plan is to run a ProCharger P1SC, EMS-Pro, and E85.
Then, try not to break it!

The wheels really help the look of the car, is that the SHO on the other side?

        Re: Taurus SHO Wagon

My parents had an 1986 Taurus Wagon and drove it for 12 years. We took it everywhere on family vacations. It made a couple trips to Florida with my sister and I sleeping with the seats laid down in the back of the car. Parents would probably jailed for that now, but thought it was awesome.

This is looking to be your neatest piece yet man. I, like everyone else around here is stoked to see the journey begin.

Are you going to ditch the intake manifold? Heard it becomes a restriction with the addition of a blower or turbo.

Sweet - a hotrod daily driver project, that's way cool.

You must have an E85 station right up the road....

              Thanks,
I have heard that about the intake.
I dont plan on changing the intake manifold because I think the tranny will break easily at around 400whp. The car only weighs 3100 on its own so it should fly with that kind of power.
I know its hard for people like us, but I need to stay focused on the fact that its a family car/daily driver. It needs to stay reliable and not break all the time. With an intercooled ProCharger,EMS-Pro, and E85, power will not be an issue. I think the issue will be how much power can we make without breaking it all the time.

Yes, we do have a couple of E85 stations close by. I ran E85 in the Fairlane the entire time during Drag Week.

Yes I did, it's just sitting here at the dealership right now. Our service dept. has been super busy the last few weeks, especially doing winter tire & wheel installs ... so they haven't had time to get the car in to do the provincial safety check on it yet. I may just get a temporary sticker for now, but I don't really plan on driving it much this winter, I have the work truck for that. Between now and the springtime, I want to get Cobra brakes on the front of the car, which will bolt directly on to the 94-up Taurus spindles, and also a set of Konis with decent springs. With that stuff, and a set of 17" wheels with sticky rubber, it will be good to go as a starting point for open-track events.

                        cheers
