      Here's what I'm thinking:

Just the hood, nothing over the roof and down the back. I'm working on the sides of the car to see if I like anything over there.

Nothing came to mind for the side with that trim already on the car and I didn't want to grey it out.

ok-now-gimme that in silver--and narrow it to the base of the scoop line, so it doesnt have to round in at the very front of the hood. and then give it a black 1/4 inch line along the edge of the silver

trim along front edge of hood will be on there eventually. Dearborn classics was backordered, then for 3 months they had swell sales with 10-20 % off then they got this thing back in stock and no deals-so I am holding out for some kind of dealio on it.

My thoughts were always just the hood--the decision early in this thread was either lose the side trim and do something with paint or keep the side trim-Ive waaay too much invested in the side trim now to go a different way, and with the trim on, I think anything else is pretty busy. hurry up with that silver on the hood, wouldya? I suck at that kinda thing, thanks for doing it. It at least gives us all anexercise to argue over here!!

thanks to all you supporters-this is a far far departure for me and i already missed one season and may miss another, finishing this car. It is encouraging to hear others like it, and gives me more reason to carry on!!

Weird, becaue I went to a lot of work to make ir round end because the straight stuff I thought looked too blocky. Silver satin hood center tucked to the scoop edge with a satin black border around it. Border down along the leading edge of the hood or just down the sides?

well, its tough to visualize the missing piece of trim-there will be a stainless piece accross the hood front-if you look on the fenders the tips that meet it are already there-so-there will be a 3/8 inch wide (tall?) strip acroos the hood edge the stripe will come down to and disappear under---I knwo that ohotoshop stuff is a ton of work, and appreciate the oppty to see how it looks--i could never master even the simplest thing in it. thanks again!!

I'm not the best at this so I fiddle around till it does what I want. I copied your lower grill section for the missing stainless. It doesn't fit quite right and the reflections are a bit off but it's close.

67 degrees? you poor poor guy ;) We get tons of refugees (I still think the border fence is just 1000 miles too far south) from cali up here, and I so enjoy watching them their first few winters ;D

Nice job fitting in that trim. looks damn near perfect!!
Now, I have to say this --- I am a big time stripe or two tone guy-every car I can remember having including my current MINI daily driver has had a custom hood stripe of some kind-SS Chevelles, W-30 and Hurst Oldsmobiles, Buick GS, motorcycles (ALWAYS RED WITH A BLACK STRIPE!!) but I have been staring at these all evening and the No stripe guys just might be right. Neither the black or greyish silver is working for me. I had a light green 70 W-30 once with dark green stripes and we built a 71 W-30 wagon dark green with light green stripes and both looked great. In my gallery of old 66/67 fairlane pics with these hoods in action, there are none with any kind of stripe. On the plus side, if I get tired of looking at it plain, the hood is easily removed and striped and it DOES need refinished, and I can always experiment with vinyl on the current finish since it is poor. decisions decisions....

The only change I'd make to this car is to get the odometer spinning. :D
Stripes in my opinion are mostly for late 60?s-70?s stuff, I don't think the mid-60's boxy cars are the correct shape for 'sporty' style stripes, lettering and some vintage window stickers may be a nice touch, but that's about it.
Something as small as Moon Equip. stickers in the rear quarter windows or some lettering on the scoop that says "428 CI" or something like that might give it a nice vintage vibe?
It just looks so damn clean as it is now!

I usually love stripes but they just don't seem to look right on this car. I LOVE the clean look of your Fairlane - you can drop it off here if you get tired of it.
