The local pick aparts had thier annual half price sale new years eve thru today, so I headed on over this morning to look around. Scored an UNBELIEVEABLY nice bench seat and some 15 inch steel wheels and tires for the car to roll around the bodyshop on, while i keep the polished welds under wraps. TOTAL PRICE-$41.80!!

There's something missing in that window channel-there supposed to be red scaly stuff in there-and holes.

That car would look pretty sweet with some green steelies and modesty caps.

The newest (05 up) Mustang body iteration has limegold available as a color and that makes the paint choices easy. I am leaning towards all limegold with the stainless trim and chrome bumpers back on.
Have you considered straightening and polishing the stainless trim yourself? Sometimes dings can be massaged out with various blunt instruments (dull chisels and screwdrivers) while bracing the trim on a shot or sand filled bag. Polishing is as easy as choosing the right compound with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder. Might save some cash. You could always farm out the worst dings and do all the polishing yourself.

Not around here, John. But I DO keep looking. A friend of mine says that there is a yard in Elizabeth City, but I haven't tracked it down yet. Worth a day trip sometime soon - watch out for the snakes.

wellll not actually-there were 2 78 granadas there, and one of them was a 2 door that was surprisingly nice all round, grey on red interior. A pristine 88 crown vitoria showing 52k and looking like it had not gone over once, gave up its perfect split bench front seat with 6 way power on the drivers side. exactly the width i needed to fit my gem, and the double set of bucket seat style seat tracks are easy tow ork with as well.

having grown up in Pa, michigan and ohio I know exactly what you mean-it was a pleasure to scrape the black goo out of the window channel, knowing there would be no holes or rust, save for the poor previous repair I discovered. as for the steeilies, that would look cool-once it runs and drives again and I settle into the next 25 years of ownership, anything is possible!

that's a reasonable Idea and it may come to that. although I kinda suck at bodywork etc, clean up is my best job bodywise. still, the budget is getting thinner every day......

I was moved to try this with the bed mouldings on the El Camino. I usd a few pieces of custom-shaped hardwood scraps as punches, a heavy mallet, and an anvil with a thin piece of cardboard taped over it. The result was really quite successful. The only 'trick' was to have a second pair of hands to hold the trim at exactly the right angle on the hard surface (in this case the anvil)required to masage out the dings and, as mentioned above, the post-ding removal compounding and polishing.

It saved a lot of coin, new bed rails aren't cheap.

A Fairlane GTA hood would look nice. I like the one scooped on the 66's. Not sure if they put one on 67's..

THIS hood, in a hinged style with front pins, currently on order. I really really need a drivers side lower door hinge with the check strap intact, in another week, that part is going to be keeping me out of the paint shop.
