I've got a stroker crank, bbc rods, but still have to get the pistons, rings, cam, springs, etc....

I'll be talking to Rabotnick before I make the final piston & cam decision.

PM sent with pictures of trws.
There's always something new to learn.

Looking good Scott. Did you decide to keep side trim or fill the holes?

keeping all of the trim, and now we have real progress--I COULD have it back by mid march.

That is quick for all that body work. Glad to hear you are keeping the trim. I'm a big fan of trim pieces and emblems.

I'm jealous you have a car that doesn't have to be stripped to bare steel. I've never had a project with good enough paint to do that.

the trim makes this car, or it needed stripes or something to liven up that paint. so I kept the trim. Did have them weld up the holes from teh 289 emblems, the big block ones are different, so I will get to drill thru the new paint! those of us in the southwest do have the choice of just not doing cars that need stripped and rust repair, and I was even trying to not buy a car that would need paint work. Unfortunately, this one just demanded I buy it, and my personality couldn't live with the bumps and bruises to it. I like shiny things, I guess. FOrtunately for me, I own a business that is intertwined heavily with the collision industry, and one of my regular customers is handling the body and paint in an efficient manner for me. (didn't hurt that i did all the trim and glass removal)

Yeah I bet it doesn't hurt to work in the collision industry ;D :P Oooh, drilling through new paint. When I had my Firebird painted the filled in the holes to mount the driver's mirror. I had a shiny one I got off E-bay and the body show just told me to drill holes for it :o They were nice enough to offer to do it for me, so I brought the car back and five minutes later I had two holes for the mirror. I never built up the courage to drill the passengerside door for the matching mirror I had gotten later.

My business intertwined with the collision business definitely helps some, mostly with the speed. It will still be kinda pricey, as I rate a minor discount but not a huge one, but the payoff is in the speed and quality. Production shops (who rely on repairing crashes on late model cars) HATE doing old cars like this, and the fact they took this on is the BIG FAVOR the owner is doing me. The body tech doing the repairs used to work for me when I had a production shop (worst job I ever had, owning a collision shop btw) and he is quite good. I am pretty jazzed to see it moving along.

Money aside, it's just nice knowing the quality of the repairs being made and not just slabs of bondo. The speed is definately a plus too! Keep the pictures coming.

well in this day and age, there is always some filler, the important thing is that it is properly applied, smoothed and cured. Primer next week, car has been moved to the paint dept. YAAAAY

That's so cool. My car will be getting the same treatment in a couple of weeks. Or, just the driver's side. At least some of the body work needed on my car will be on someone else's dime.
