              Disco Shifter Blues....

Tonya and I are fussing about this shifter I bought for the Disco...

Here's the deal... the car has a columm and I'm converting it to a floor shifter... of course the Diso Nova has a Bench Seat... which makes the Shifter location a bit forward to begin with if you want it on the floor... but I bought a Z Gate B&M from Jeg's... ( this after a long conversation that missed the bench seat option )...( the guy was great... so no issues from Jeg's )...

Anyway this Thing is HUGE.... but I don't want to send it back... cause I could actually Drive the Disco TODAY... in other words... I want to install it... good, bad or ugly.... ( it's like Christmas to me... I'm the guy who JUST can't wait... ) But if I build the tall mount to go over the seat it's going to be .... well more Ugly then Not...

Shoot... I just don't freaking know what to do...

                Re: Disco Shifter Blues....

Perfect example - one thing leads to another... time for bucket(s) seats. Come to think of it, the wife hasn't
rode in any of the junk, on a milk crate. But gosh I can't say I didn't perform a "test" drive or two in my youth
                with some substandard seats...

                  Re: Disco Shifter Blues....

if tonya can't reach the handle, get a truck shifter with a longer handle. Or get her a longer arm ;D

                    Re: Disco Shifter Blues....

this sounds like a case of function over form put it where ever it fits OR....................hook the cable up run through floor a couple pairs of vice grips and drive it put shifter in later LOL

My vote goes for buckets.....bench deats are great for cruisers/sleepers, but really....who are you fooling with that screaming yellow Nova?

The Z-Gate is a decent basic shifter....had one in my old '86 SS Monte when the stock shifter literally fell apart.

Can a longer handle be purchased for that shifter?

                          Re: Disco Shifter Blues....

                          No.

If one was so inclined, they could get some round stock, drill and tap the ends to make an "extension".

Jegs and Summit sell'em pretty damn cheap, too.

If one was so inclined, you could notch the
fron seat frame, which would require removing,
and disassembly of the seat, and maybe some new hogrings.

Not that hard, you can make some room for the shifter lever.

                                i agree with bill,

i would notch the seat...or ..make a pedestal out of 3/4 tubing and mount a B&M Pro Stick at the height you need/want..
