  • Bringing a 73 Dodge Challenger back from the dead

This is another saga of bringing a dead mover back to life after a 16 year nap. We're not doing a Roger Gibson make over here,( but he's one of the best restorers of Mopars out there). this is going to be a driver, as in daily driver. Car was originally triple black built for export, probebly sold through a military base but never made it out of the states. It has Rallye suspension, sway bars, disc brakes, 240HP 340 4 barrel,(down from 275 HP the year before) 727 auto, 3:23 sure grip rear end. Weird interior though, no rallye gauges and it's an auto on the column. Engine was/is a runner , but needs all new freeze plugs, so we will be doing a little cleaning and detailing as we go. The belongs to my friend Terry, otherwise known as Kickingwing(lookalike) from the Joe dirt movie.

    Built for Export tag

Had to rob the engine stand from my RR's original 383, see those cut open valve covers, I found out 70 only valve covers for a 440 are worth quite a bit of coin,,,,after I hacked them open for oil catchers

Re: Bringing a 73 Dodge Challenger back from the dead

After removing what was left of all the freeze plugs and vacuuming out the water passages, Terry decided to take the engine and transmission home with him for freshening up. He has all the parts already but he lives about 80 miles away. So i'm off the hook on that part. What I do need to do is patch a hole under the battery tray and detail out the engine compartment. It's really clean after a power wash. There was no oil or grease to speak of.

At first I THOUGHT is was detailed! After powerwashing it's already looking good. Looking foward to following along.

Solid car eh? lol shouldn't take to long to finish that underhood detailing. Kinda dig the wheels on it too, but I suppose they are a bit dated...I also like the black and white paint scheeme. Can't wait to see more

We are going to paint the wheel centers black.
