                  • All stripped down.

                    Tables full of engine.

Next, tear down the head, get the block and head boiled.

Already have main and rod bearings. Just need a gasket set and away we go.

LOL - have you seen how many Folgers "cans" are in SBG's shop? Hardly a picture without spotting one of then.

You won't see them in my shots because the snob coffee the Texas rednecks drink comes in a bag.

Dad stopped drinking Folgers when they tried to pawn off a 33 oz can as 3 pound size. Ooops. Now it seems he just drinks mine all the time. lol.

                          Thanks Bob, awesome PICS!!!

Nothing quite like the smell of opening new can of Folgers. One of my favorite smells. Unfortunately, I am not fan of drinking coffee.

Bob, it looks like the engine work is moving right along. I may have missed it earlier, but what caused the damage?

                              • Scott, that's one of the things we're trying to figure out. We think there was a bunch of tolerance stackup, lead by the offshore crappy replacement cam synchronizer. The gears were bottoming out, the dizzy gear's teeth was rolling over and peeling off, the aux shaft's gears were actually concave after being eaten by the dizzy gear.

I also talked to Melling about possible oil pump cavitation, and they stated that the pump cavitates at 3,000-3,500 camshaft rpm. Which is right about where we shift the thing. Also, the pro shop that put the bottom end together used the wrong pump, an HV spec pump which is known to cause problems stripping the gear set. I'll be using the upgraded M127 pump which is supposed to take care of the problem. It came on a later model 2.3.
