  • 1967 Chevy C10 Stepside pickup

I saw a thread about this forum on www.fullsizechevy.com earlier today.

I'd like to share my current project with the board - 1967 Chevy C10 stepside pickup we've had since 1991.

Here is a shot from the summer of 2003:

We kept it a nice driver until April 2004 when it was hit and caused the damage below

This is the current state of the project.

Chassis is a 1972 1/2 ton 5 lug, front disc, dual exhaust, OEM Big Block mounts, front sway bar setup. Powdercoated gloss black from front to rear.

Rear fuel tank is from FuelCellGuy - www.aluminumfuelcell.com
Moog pitman and idler arms with local rebuilt power steering gear - Harry's
PST Front end rebuild kit (rubber) - www.p-s-t.com
    PST Trailing arm bushings (Poly)
    Early Classic 4/6 drop kit - www.EarlyClassic.com
Rear end is a GM 12 Bolt, DTS 3.73, Posi, Moser axles - www.drivetrainspecialists.com
Stainless Steel Brake lines & hoses - www.InlineTube.com[/list]

Next up is the parking brake cables. Once that is done, Everything gets torqued down and the chassis is complete

Cab is currently awaiting some rust repair on the frame mounts, floors and corners along with some minor mods.

Here is a buildup thread with many more pictures and details 8)

Good luck with the project, Joe. My brother has a 68 GMC Stepside (with a Chev grille and lights), almost the same red as yours. He did a disc brake swap last winter, and put a set of the full chrome Rallye wheels on it from Wheel Vintiques, looks sharp.

I guess they did not see the BIG RED TRUCK.

It was nice, I guess it will be even nicer!
      Great project.

thanks guys. This has been a fun project for sure, just on hold for a year or so while other things in life happen. I hope to continue this spring.

Bummer when that happens, I wrecked my 59 pickup a couple years ago and still haven't got it all put back together. Looks like you have a pretty good start on it!

say....do you still need those 3 hubcaps? I have a couple and would like to make a set again

I may have a few of those Camaro/Nova/COPO caps in storage. I'd have to dig them out.

Oh, I meant the generic Chevelle hubcaps, not the expensive COPO ones

I had the caps I mentioned on the truck in that first pic. They can be had for nice deals on ebay if you're patient ;)

Yeah, they're the same caps, I gave away a nice set several years ago, I think I have two more caps that are in so-so shape. These things were free for the asking 15-20 years ago.

The aluminum fuel cell link is dead, but it sounds interesting.

Looking at the pics you posted on the other forum you linked to, I wonder if you got the cab straight before you got too far along with the work on it? Sometimes the doors get out of whack because the hinge pillar of the cab gets bent....

The cab is straight thankfully. The brace underneath will be corrected when the metal work is completed.
I had the doors attached for quite a while after I stripped the old frame/chassis and things opened/closed fine and the gaps look great.
