Re: Schtauffer's 85 Monte SS
Kewl what are those springs coded as........... 5658? are they coded as another number? I see a .25" difference but will the settle more than that after awhile?

I did find that Monte Carlo lowering springs are basically stock Camaro springs. Thanks to a little research and some helpful information over at MonteCarloSS.com, I ordered a set through my wife's NAPA connection. I believe I chose the best option... look at these specs:
Stock Monte SS:
# Coil Spring Coils : 8.26
Coil Spring Free Height : 14.63"
Coil Spring I.D. : 4.08"
Coil Spring Load Height : 11"
Coil Spring Type : One Tangential End; One Square End
Design Load : 1530
Spring Rate : 421
Wire Diameter : .687"
1991 Camaro Z28
# Coil Spring Coils : 6.76
Coil Spring Free Height : 13.26"
Coil Spring I.D. : 4.08"
Coil Spring Load Height : 10.75"
Coil Spring Type : One Tangential End; One Square End
Design Load : 1538
Spring Rate : 598
Wire Diameter : .718"
There is a spring that I assume is for the 1LE option with a spring rate of 649 but the design load is for 1690 lbs-- a 150 lbs more than stock. From the info that the MC SS guys have shared, those springs don't really lower the car much. These won't either, but it should sit lower than stock Monte springs and more importantly it will handle significantly better.
My cost? $68. ;D Sure beats paying $150 for "lowering springs".
