I'm sensing they are a bunch of g.m. guys over there. Once you put a Duramax in they will talk to you again .

meh, if I worried about my online reputation, I'd own a duramax truck on 32" wheels with 35" tires and a 69 Camaro.Doing it all wrong since 1966

So I've been updating my wife's Heep - but I'm still not a Heep guy, so I've been a bit lackadaisical about posting...
added a rack
this I had on my H3 for awhile, I repurposed it (back to what it was made for, allegedly)
all so we could put one of these on here so it will have shelter from the heat, rain, and everything else trailing throws at her (I don't think she's used it yet...)
time to get serious... I installed a Kenwood 991 GPS stereo in it, and a dual battery set up like I have in my H3 to run fans for her cage
but now the cage is getting too small for the bloodhound
so time to do the cage I'd have planned all along
the divider came from best top, but it's been modified to attach to the floor I had built for the Land Rover
Back door
now there will be doors and a divider stored under the floor to make the cage into two cages when needed. In the passenger area, there will be shelves to store her SAR stuff
I put the light off my H3 on her car, but the roof couldn't come off - so I don't know what I'm going to do about that
I also need to finish wiring the floodlights - she'll need them soon as our days will be more dark than light in a couple months.
Then back onto the Disco2, then my Heep... err eFJDoing it all wrong since 1966

the lay out is to provide 2 cages (albeit tight cages) in the back. I've yet to make it, but there will be a divider to keep the dogs apart (one where they can't really see each other). The front screen is something I bought and modified. I removed the rear seats so that I could put the second battery and storage shelves in place along with the day and 3 day backpacks.
It will also have side panels so that there is more storage over the wheel wells - and I'm removing the side windows and replacing them with plexiglass. They will be removeable for air flow and for access to the side compartments. The biggest issue at the moment is I'm having trouble sourcing that 2"x2" grid mesh. When I do the side panels, they will be screwed into place but each can be removed without too much effort (as opposed to a welded-together cage)Doing it all wrong since 1966

resurrecting a dead thread for a vehicle I still dislike.
Soooo, my wife wants an updated cage 140,000 miles, still runs fine, still original clutch, shocks lasted 100k, springs didn't (3rd set - they keep sagging)
sorry to tell you this buddy, but this Jeep has been around quite awhile
still doesn't believe me
exhaust is dead, but more importantly, I need space for batteries for the electronics and I need a 3rd seat....
right removal tool was a deathwheel
I win
The magnaflow system looks cool, the "overland" patch and sticker were a bit much
its current state
current cage - see the Optima battery? that's where its going but it needs to be frenched in so I can have a drawer in that space
it will also have opening side windows, new cage, compete update on the fans, and more room for current floppy-eared terrorist, Kinsey
picture to come, Luigi is cuter

back to square 1. The prior house battery placement was under the cage and where the rear passenger seat was.... wife has asked for more seating, so more seating we give her
underneath - why I moved the muffler
for posterity, this is what an ASE certified Master Mechanic at Rairdon Jeep does when he's asked to fix the power port
time to move the battery down
ahem.... labraduffuses.

Remove this
mark it
verify
it's cut, but apparently the picture didn't take.... ah well
also start on the cage
seems a shame to cut this up merely for its rollers, but alas, it cost me less then the glides would.. win?
Kinsey is our current SAR dog.... she is concerned.
Luigi, not so much
of course, whatcha doing is going to happen
as background, Kinsey is rarely down at the shop.... only because I'm chopping up her car....
it is funny how pets like one, certain car. Buick loved the Hummer...

sadly, I need to move the Buick out for this hunk of heep.... ah well, happy wife
nothing but the safest methods used
I did get her to scrub the top, so there is that
voiding every warranty...roll bar edition
seat.... we need the space, so it needs to move forward... so first, strip it
battery box
I need to put restraining straps in place, negative lug, then weld and seal it to the body... oh yeah, and paint it

the Jeep lovefest continue... effer.
time to finish up the battery tray
single battery..
inspectors... sheesh
My '40 had twin batteries, but since I don't do SAR with it, it's pointless.... time to switch two for one
and now in the Jeep
time to start filling the space back up
blurry seat frame

The grand dame was checking out progress on a break from her subversion of Luigi
I promised to make the roof white in 2014 when we bought this .... can you believe she kept asking me about doing it?
this dog is the one who started it all....
time for a new gear box
the bottom is for her backpack, next row will be radios and such gear
then the top a boot drying rack - so it will be plastic lined with a drain
other side
I still have the goal of done this coming Sunday.... wish me luckDoing it all wrong since 1966
