  • Now with lift

2 1/2 lift.... lol.... I wonder if the guys who put that marketing on the lift kit did the "yep, looks like 2""

conversely, the back is 2 1/4" lift

    Fittings

    Fitted

as is typical, one fitting is missing (mind you, I bought a bunch as backstock for my hydro assist stuff on my other 4x4s
fun fact - the take-off for the vacuum is on the front of the 3.6, it's also on the front of the r2.8....

this was not fun to run at the firewall... but the heater is done

and when removing the gas tank, also test the tinsel strength of the pump wires

      • I took an old long belt cut it and used vice grips to hold it to the length I wanted, marked it took it off and measured. This was to get it correct the third time.

          • a bite at a time
the adapter to the PS pump

            and connected

and then the almost right belt.... I ordered the one size smaller - this will work but it will lose tension the moment it starts stretching

            installed

thinking this is where the filter will go....

            and classic, it works

            but lost one bolt

            it should work (stock radiator)

new panhard bar, just waiting for install

            • time to make a hole

              for this

haven't decided where the motor's battery is going to reside. Probably behind the passenger seat... anyway besides moving stuff around - this was my 'major' accomplishment tonight

              • don't mind me, just storing this for later

Factory tachometer function: Use Jeep crankshaft position sensor & existing wiring to read tone ring mounted on R2.8 harmonic balancer. Tone ring based on scaled-down pattern of ring ‘gear’ mounted on original flywheel. Factory oil light & temp gauge function: tee original sensors to those on the R2.8 into their respective ports. Momentarily after engine starts, original tachometer will display RPM, oil light will be active & temp will show. Original ECU will activate original cooling fan at ECU-determined temperature or when AC is on. Info based on my Bruiser Conversion 4BT swap into 2007 JKU.

                • Went to Portland to visit dad so didn't get a lot done... however
                  installed the new, adjustable panhard

                  and new stabilizer

then spent quality time seeing what it would take to make this fit

                  this is now redundant

Cummins makes a shorter oil filter... less fittings, sure less cleaning (but there is a work around with a Franz style filter)... that said this is a every 3k oil change so I'm not as worried
then got to work on the tank.... ordered the fittings and hose, should be here Tuesday

Thankfully, with all my spare time, an old guy had a medical emergency and nearly head-on ran into me. Hoping he has insurance... glad he's not dead, it was touch and go there... it's odd to go from victim to rescuer in less time then it takes to type this....

Oh yeah, all while on my way to church (he was headed the wrong way ;) )

                        • back to Jeep content
I've had the 'other' window since Woodinville - so giving it 2 years to age seemed like a good idea. That and I'm waiting on parts so time to get other stuff done

                          and the insert

                          and the window removed

                          removal tool

a bit of windshield glue and it's in place

                          back to diesel content tomorrow

                          • back to it.
$200 later and the right belt

one that works (neither of which came from Quickdraw) but note how very little space there is between white marks? that white mark is where the tensioner is when no belt is on

this is the correct belt installed - note the white mark on the tensioner?

now that's sorted... time for my nightmare

                            • Fittings arrived

didn't buy enough hose but napa carries it so it'll be fine
disabled the electric pump - found nice metal bits in the well

removed the one way valve in the assembly to disable the pump. It's still in there in case I ever LS this or need it but now it's most certainly off

this is impossible for Jeep dealership mechanics.... snapping the fittings together - no maybe y'all see why I'm so irritated at them. Even engineers could fix stupid

need to get a 5/8 overflow hose

get the tank in, then realize I can't get it all the way in because the lift is in the way

                              • last line for the fuel tank

now run to the filter then to the motor

and got the short filters in

                                compare then installed

                                intercooler came today

                                left to do:
                                radiator
                                intercooler
                                wiring
