I have a cooler mount that I simply need to get the right seal to use - but the filter is plenty clear now. The nut will be close once the other bracket is in place, but it's still plenty of room... I may do something about the motor mount, though, to allow the upper arm to go up further - gone are the days of mile-high lifted vehicles (and their tippy nature), this one is going to be as close to the road as I can possibly make it

"Gone are the days".....exactly right. Kinda like the Pro-fairground thing, all form and barely any function.
Front links are looking awesome. That picture with the front axle articulated is worthy of framing!Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.Comment

or posting on Pirate right under the comment from the moderator that said my build was "boring" - but I'll wait patiently, I figure a good forklift picture when its done would be enough of a blank-off to them...Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

I posted two pictures and words that will, likely, get me in trouble...

I will get further tonight, but taking a brief break so time to update.
first a shave

then a guess

maybe

time to get an idea of where things landed

it's put in the spot you will see later tonight

I think I will widen the fender... why not?

plenty of room

time for the box

those are a special prybar power-steering-box shim device... very hard to find

panhard test fit

testing

where the bump stops will stop uptravel

and it clears, barely

clears, again

ride height is 27" to the bottom of the rocker panel

box would be bolted in place if 7/16" grade 8 bolts were available... in other news, 12mm is a bit larger than 7/16

maybe I'll use the coils... they would last longer

there it is... next update the wheels will be on it

can't do the steering shaft because I didn't get the right tube... no biggieDoing it all wrong since 1966Comment

One thing I did notice, the rear is about 4" higher than I wanted. I figured it'd compress once I got weight on the front axle, but it hasn't moved at all really... I don't want to cut the springs because that increases the spring rate and honestly I want it to ride better than that... I guess it's time to figure out how to make scales from those bits I got from my wife's last employer. my guess was wrong, my 1st fj40 weighed 5200 lbs with me in it, which is heavier than the JK springs were designed for.... oops, it's a good thing (to be lighter), but still... it's got to be fixed.Last edited by SuperBuickGuy; March 23, 2015, 06:05 AM.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

sitting on its own wheels again... can't roll it yet because I don't have the drill I need to put the studs in.... but... closer

stiffer springs

start on bolting on the ps box

and better

I still need to box the inside, but that won't come until after I completely disassemble the chassis (after mockup)... then weld, box, plate and otherwise make stronger
which brings me to another shot at the motor mount (there are some who wondered why I didn't box this when I started, this should answer that question)

cause I wasn't done

and removed some brackets to start on mounting the radiator
