    Today
    run throttle cable

still need to find e-clip to hold it on....

    clean up the sealing surface

and there it is with gasket... I still don't have the sealant, so I'll wait until I have that before making it tight then testing it for leaks

and I'll wait for another elbow to replace the one I just broke (dammit!)
    fortunately, I could run one

    lines run

    nutserts inserted

    hump installed

because I tied the bars together at the base, I had to move the vent

    and moved

all lug nuts on.... I need to do an alignment, so that's kind of next

and get the front end installed... but here it is

          starting here

spacer for air cleaner... I hate it and I'll make it out of something more durable then plastic

          heater is sort-of in

yeah, I know, I was going to use the firewall... get over it, or don't.... I don't care

and now my clean rig looks like an explosion of wiring...

ah well, must make a mess to make it finished.

            Sandblasted this

didn't have enough sand for the surround... ugh

            finished up the air line

and spent time wiring... nope, you can't tell at all

though I did learn that europeans use white for ground... which would have been helpful to know. Fortunately, despite a complete lack of instructions online, some helpful Russian posted a youtube video where you could see how he connected the wires.... yay Russians.

we won't talk about how much time I spent with those lights.

              random work
stripped the windshield frame and the front panel

halogen light bad without vent in the back

hmmmm, maybe move forward (note the use of special blue welder's tape? I bought that off Pirate)

and I put a cover over the wires, and will have to redo one wire ... ugh

              back to the frames

about 1/4 of the way there.... I've done the easy stuff now I have to sand the corners and make sure that no stripper ended up inside the frame

              and the other two bits

and started by etching the inside of the tank....

not pictured, I finished the fuel lines so once I line the tank the fuel system will be done.

                a bit of tank lining

                pretty, no?

a bit more of wiring... stupid elephant

and the passenger side frame painted... hopefully Sunday I can get the passenger side done...

a bit of unexpected time to dink on the '40
                  line the bottom

                  seal the pickup and return

                  connect lines

                  get sidetracked by honeydo

                  missed it by this much

oh well, either I'll move the seat over a bit or grind the offending plastic...

                  start button installed

and then I wired for awhile.... I hate wiring

                    Starting here

                    a ways to go here

                    looking better here

                    and now here

there will be a switch, though it might not be this one

and in answer to a question - this is a rough idea of what the sliders will look like

Usefull sliders....Most of the ones I see around here are poorly built or not built in such a way that you could use it as a step. I could see that being handy accessing top mounted lights and what not...plus...I know I have a hard time getting in and out of tall rigs anymore....a place for some footing is sure handy
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue

You haven't lived until you've ridden on the running boards of a pre-war car. It was still safe to do in the 70s.

NOT safe in my childhood! If Mom caught you there would be Hell to pay! Yes, I know that for a fact.

this is why God invented uncles - to do all the stuff that dad wanted to do but was afraid that mom would skin him if he did.

Hung onto dad's logging truck mirrors, standing on either running boards or fuel tanks for rides..
Hauling hay with running boarded pickups make a better place to ride than on top of a load of hay.. ..
Watched a logger ride the tracks on a loader.. I had to try, got my foot bumped on the crawler cab, did the splits.. Every bar on the tread bumped my leg..have a hard spot still, 50 years later on the back of my leg.. Guess I was luckt my legs weren't ripped apart..

                                Narrowing in on vroom vroom
wiring the battery box (what a pain, I should have made it bigger)

if you look, you'll see there is power to the dash and the two gauges hooked up work.... not sure the oil pressure is right - but it works

and plumbed the heater core so I could refill the coolant.

tomorrow I'll pick up gas and see if it will actually make some noise
