Does it have the spring cups? I sure you can buy them.

Yeah they sell them. They are $50 but I have a set I used with the QA1 back when I first swapped the big block in the 83GT. I will tweak them to work with this K.
Ordered the AJE engine mounts. $70
Running total: $1270 (car,pistons/rings,kmember,engine mounts)

I trimmed up the spring mounts I made and previously used with the 83GT. Instead of bolting them on like it was on the other car, I decided it would be easier to just weld them to the k-member. I just need to shoot them with some black paint in the K member will be ready to install.

Out with the old and in the... well probably older, but it's a different old.
Pulled the stock K out and installed the AJE yesterday. I would have put it all back together, but the ball joints are toast and need to be replaced. I pressed them out and will order a new set this week. The arm bushing look surprisingly good so they will stay. Jonathan has a extra set of lowering springs for an SN so I will poke them back in when it goes back together. The rack is a leaker. I think I might try installing new seals unless I find one used or new for cheap. Jonathan has a new Fox rack, but they have a different input shaft and different inner/outer tie rods. SN95 is metric threads vs. SAE for the Fox.

Motor mounts are supposed to be here tomorrow so I decided to pop the E4OD off the 460. I hope to bolt on the headers and test fit it this week to start getting an idea of how to mount the accessories.

The engine mount pads on the K are in completely different places. From what I can tell they are lower and farther to the rear. The CV has vertical motor mount pedestals cast into it and uses a different motor mount with a vertical bolt.
I considered attempting to make my Fox mounts work with the mod K or making the 4.6L mounts work with the 460, but then you are re-engineering everything and I don't want to do that.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

In spite of the treacherous road conditions that currently exist here, my motor mounts arrived. They look ok. Welds are kind of cobby, but I figger they will work.

Popped the converter and flexplate off and bolted on the AJE mounts and my Hooker swap headers. The AJE mounts have both BBF and FE patterns and are slotted to allow them to be slid fore and aft to properly align with the K member. The mounting pads on the K member are directly across from one another, but the mounting bosses on a big block Ford are offset from left to right by approximately 3/4 of an inch. The motorplate provided a good surface to measure from to get the mounts evenly bolted to the block.
As far as the headers go, you can see in one of the pictures the port mismatch that I will need to address with an adapter plate or something.
Maybe tomorrow I will wiggle her in there and see how she fits.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Wow. That's a lot worse looking than the mismatch on the van header flanges Stiney sent me. CJ sized headers right? A 3/8" plate later, I'm tellin' ya, you have yourself some "Anti-reversion"... pfffft. Grin. I wondered about a bit of top of port to bottom of port angled taper on the plate to tuck the bottom of the headers back in? Hopefully not needed.
primaries as big as some car's exhaust.. .
I just noticed what I think is a Pantex reference in the background? Some days I'm kind of slow.Last edited by Beagle; October 28, 2020, 04:35 AM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

Test fit is a success. The motor mounts are not as easy to deal with as the other swap mounts I have or the motor plate, but it is in there. Initial thought is I almost feel like it needs to move rearward another inch or so but we will see. I will also determine if I need to use kmember spacers like I did with the 83GT. Fits good and looks like it belongs in there. The headers seem to clear everything nicely. Now I can start looking at how to mount the AC compressor, alternator, and power steering pump.
