Back to wiring. I backtracked a little because I felt like I should wire the MS to be turned on/off with a switch rather than with the key. The reason is, so I do not have to have the key on in order to connect the MS to the laptop. It is more convenient and also does not power up the igniter and coils. This is how it was set up in the Mustang and it worked well.
I am still plugging away at this truck. I bought a new hard drive for a newer laptop I had (Win10 instead of XP) and it took a while to get it all configured and up and running. This computer will also run my HPTuners, so now I have all my efi tuning software in one place.
Yesterday, I calibrated the TPS, and started routing the vacuum/boost lines to the wastegate, Megasquirt, brake booster, bov and fuel pressure regulator. It didn't take long to realize that adding a vacuum manifold would be a good idea, so I ordered one for the truck and one for the Mustang.
I also did a key-on test hoping to hear a priming pulse from the fuel pump. No dice. My hope of using the Ford efi fuse/relay box has not been very successful thus far. Oh well.
When it backfires and blows the intake tube completely off at you, it may be time to go back and double check some stuff. Haha.
In my case, I managed get a distributorless ignition system 180 out. I'm stupid.
Well, actually I put the plug wires back on according to a pic of the Mustang motor I had. However that pic was taken early on in that project and the wires were not on the proper coils!! I found some later pics from when it was running and verified that I currently have it wrong. haha.
Man I love this thing!!! Can't believe the transformation!
Hard to believe at one time you were concerned with a broken valve spring in the 460...? OR you were hauling lawn mowers in it...?
I have to read stuff like this to motivate me to get off my ass and go DO SOMETHING!!!!

Haha thanks!
It has been a fun project even if the intended use target has moved so many times!
I fiddled with it a little more a couple of nights ago night and did some datalogs. Still refuses to stay idling.
A few things I am going to do first are:
1. Check pickup to 36-1 wheel gap.
2. Add a 500 rpm row to my timing table. The Mustang idled at 1100 so the lowest row was 1000. This motor is around 800-ish. Probably not a big deal, but it needs to be corrected.
3. Disable using a target afr table. I do not have the wide band connected yet.
I really just want it to start up, run and idle at this point.
I still need to swap the diff center section and install the driveshaft before this thing is driveable.
When I weeded out the efi harness, I accidentally weeded out the wire that triggers the starter solenoid. lol So I have been using a bump button to activate the starter. Yesterday I pulled the cluster so I could re-connect the original wire so this thing would start with the key again.
Had cherry picker on my tranny, got in and saw the hook of the picker on the windshield, "better get out and move the chains..craaacck went my windshield. Out to in, pretty strong, in to out busts too easy... Maybe so bodies survive a "softer" landing?
