Probably a reason why it was squirrelly...you were loaded too far rearward.. By a good foot plus, maybe.. Of all the trailers I have used and the wrecked derby car, I found a rule of thumb is the rear tires on the brace behind the rear tire on the trailer.. Will pull sweetly every time! .. I like your winch mount!
We had it farther forward but backed it up because we had waaaaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaay too much tongue weight. The Durango was about to pull a wheelie.

I'd go with a little squirelly because the weight of the trailer and the truck was probably shoving the Durango all over the place. I put an extended cab on mine and pulled it with the Lightning and it was *not* my idea of a fun day. It didn't like the Bronco either. Diesel truck came around not much after that, no problems with any of the cars, but diesel truck doesn't like it when the tractor is on there (neither does the trailer) so I'm thinking it's time for a gooseneck.
ahh, and ask that SBG feller when the last time was that he had a running Buick.
I think I'll pass. The front half 4x2 and 4x4 frames are completely different, so any sort of swap would be a giant undertaking.
Dang!! I thought the frames were similar except the F250 4x4's were narrower... Would love to see this thing up on 35's! Although its probably best at this height for getting the "Rangers" equipment in and out of it.
Can't wait to see what you save off the parts truck. Your parts truck is WAY nicer than the stuff guys are restoring around here!

Ran into a snag of sorts. Not really, but I was not expecting it. The firewall of an ac and non-ac truck is different on the passenger side. The factory ac trucks have a gigantic hole whereas the non-ac just have a small hole for the blower motor. The normal fix is to just cut a piece of sheet metal and seal it up. I might just saw a patch panel out of the parts truck.
...what boggles my mind, is that you were able to find a pic of a completely stripped and prepped cab! That's a lot of work to do to one of these old Ford trucks.
James is partial to those big ugly HEI caps.... I prefer the stealthier approach with the small cap distributor for a vintage look - but I generally use the big cap for the larger terminals and easier to find wires. The one big beef I have with the typical Ford OEM distributors is the burried mechanical advance mechanism.... GM certainly got that right putting it right under the rotor - instead of under the point plate!
I added pics to an album under my profile. It's weird because I keep getting notifications that there are comments, but when you navigate to the unknown area with albums, there are no pics nor comments. It's like a black hole on Bangshift.
