        It is a real SS-396 Chevelle.

        And, yes it is the GM Performance Parts Chevelle that was used for the crate engine swap story in Hot Rod.

            I bought that car out of a barn in Davison Michigan. It was built in one of the GM Engineering buildings on the Tech Center grounds. My team and I built it, and did the testing for the Hot Rod story. No one outside GM worked on the car. Dan Millen was our driver for the test, and aside from the people from Hot Rod and a few sponsers, he was the only non-GM person involved.
