I had a 79 that exact color in 90. Fun car to drive.

I drive by a house nearby that has three of that era T-Birds in the driveway. It looks as if only one gets driven.

I grew up riding in a 78 LTD Sport, I also owned a 78 T-Bird....you honestly cant beat the ride, but they are all underpowered....The LTD had a 302, my T-Bird had a 400M.....gutless

Yeah, they did seem under-powered...do you think they just had really high rearend gears
Dad's just had a 85mph speedo and the needle went a loooong way past 85 on a nice straight road
You remember being 16 years old ,right ?

oh yeah, they were gutless AND had hghway gears but I have to agree my speedo in my 78 Olds and my 78 T-bird both stopped at 85 and would easily roll past that on a loooooooong straight road

I've got a soft spot for those too. My dad had a '78 XR-7 and this is my mother's '79 T-Bird. This photo was taken the morning after she picked it up from the dealership, had about 35 miles on it. I took my driver's test in it about 6 months later, passed!

Just groovin' to my own tune.

I had a '78 T-Bird that my Grandfather gave me. Silver, blue interior, Keystones, T-tops, 351W, full load. Not my cup of tea. I sold it last year. It was competing for space with other stuff and I had to let it go.

Can anyone tell me what are the good points of 1978 Mercury Cougar XR7? My friend wants me to buy her old Mercury Cougar XR7 car , it still looks great. But i just wanna make sure if it is worth it to buy that car. But all i know is Mercury Car Parts are really durable though its simple only but i don't mind. Thanks for helping me out. That would really contribute for my decision.
