  • Wanted: T5 transmission on the cheap.

I want a T5 transmission on the cheap to install behind an inline 6 engine.

Cheaper is better. Needing rebuild is okay if cheap enough. If a Mustang one I'll figure out what I need to do to make it bolt to the GM bellhousing.

    What do you have?

what I have will cost more to ship than it's worth... and the adapters are kind of high. BOP bell?

    Las Vegas, 250.00 ? I'd check the numbers. http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/3756613998.html .. there's about a million ratios available.

oh - forgot something, watch the input lengths, the 94-95 Mustang T5 has a longer input shaft / deeper bellhousing. Might work out well if you are gonna put a Saginaw / T5 adapter on it.

Hmm, I didn't see that one when I looked at the Vegas craigslist this morning. I'll give him a call, pahrump is only a slight detour home tomorrow.

There is one on eBay that would be $350 to my door. Rebuild kits are around $150. Is like to stay below $300 all in (shipping included).

I don't know much about the GM variant of the T5, but if there is a 'world class' vs standard option, be sure to get the WC.

WC will have a timken bearing instead of of a plug - this is under the input shaft:

http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Bo...T5-ID-Tags.htm has as good a list of ratios as I can find, if the trans has a tag on it and hasn't been apart or hacked this will tell you what the ratios are.

First gear is the biggest range, from 2.95 to 4.03 first gear.

Of course the WC is preferred, but its just a naturally aspirated straight six, no need to be picky IMO. The later turbo engine will be.automatic.

you've probably already seen this -
Steel Bushing for MD-320-1043 T5 Mustang Shift Lever. Sold as a Set of 2. For 8mm bolt size. We have these in stock, and they are ready to ship.

Do you care which gear set? The 4cyl models are pretty low. You're gonna be letting the clutch out and shoving it back in immediately to shift out of first gear.

It currently has highway gears (I think 3.08) so I'm good with a deep first. I'll soon have 3.42 availible if need be.

Hello and welcome to the board!

I got the car on the road last year so the need for the transmission has passed. Thanks for the offer!
