Looks like one of my pics! I mean, the fuzzy part. Great that you're making progress in spite of the shipping issues (we're at Full Stop as we await the rest of our Time-Serts so we can sympathize).

Lucky me....Friday was another holiday so my parts are still in transit from Madrid.
Jegs shipped the cam on the 22nd November......
I have also ordered a new timing chain for stock setup roller cams.
Plenty to do cleaning the heads and block plus the oil pan gasket.

I wanted Time-Serts to repair a head bolt thread in my block but no one would ship to Europe.
Ended up with Helicoil bought here in Spain.

Something else Iīve discovered about my head gaskets.
I use a Clevite Nitroseal 5746 gasket which is 0.026 compressed thickness,
this gives me the ideal quench, my pistons being 0.020 down the hole.
But I have found out these gaskets lack cooling holes between the center cylinders which
because of my overheating issues I think I need.
So when this all goes back together Iīm going to open up those holes...

              Clevite gasket.

Today while still waiting on my timing chain and valve springs I decided to push on with some cleaning....

Totally amazed at the amount of crud on my pistons.

Last time the heads were off was three years ago and then I only had to clean off a light dusting of carbon.

This amount must of raised my compression ratio.

I used oven cleaner spray and a brake cleaner rinse after a wire brush scrubbing.

All done, plus tapped out all the threads.

Check your valve stem seals while heads are off.
Looks like valve stem oil leaking..

                                Valve stem seals ordered.
I'll do them now as I am changing the valve springs.
