  • 4 bbl to 2 bbl

Dad's F250 that has the engine out of my old Capri is still not right. It doesn't want to idle, hard to start. The Edelbrock 600 has been clogged up and cleaned out a few times the gas tank has been replaced. We are ready to try a different carburetor.

We have a few autolite 2bbl sitting around. Anyone have any luck with the Mr. Gasket 1933 adapter?

Thought it might be easier then changing the intake to a factory intake.

Will it work? Looks like the bolts could drop into the intake should lock tight be used? Which one? Would we be better off just switching the intake to a 2bbl intake?

We use the wood/resin one 4 barrel manifold to Holley 500 -2 barrel carb. Been in many derbies.
The advance adaptor ones will crack around the bolt holes. . And must be set just right so to not leak vac

Where did you get the wood one, or did you make it?

I got the one from summit it is a nice piece! I am using an old motorcraft carb that came in the trunk for the capri. I pulled the top off looked pretty good the bowl vent had gotten clogged from a bug but other than that it met my standard to put on. The Holley carb gasket is not correct for the motorcraft carb but the local advance auto had one in stock!

Dropped it on and once it warmed up a little it idled pretty good and ran better than the elderbrock we have been messing with for way to long. I am not sure what year this carb is. It is very bare bones I think only say one port on the side. I need to adjust or make a new throttle bracket the old one works but could be better. I have not hooked up the vacuume advance on the distributor to see if it likes it. I guess the port on the passenger side by the choke is for the vac advance? I had the power brakes hooked to the back of the elderbrock. I did not see anywhere on the motorsport to hook up the powerbrakes. It has a weiand intake and all the ports are plugged I guess its best to try to get one of the plugs out to run the power brakes?

We worked on it some more today. I was able to pull a plug in the intake for the brake booster. I found a vacuum tree on an old junk engine. I put the distributor on a port I found on the front.
Now the only issue is the carb is leaking out the front accelerator pump diaphragm?
