...HELP FAST...Rear wheel bearings Corvette 64 model.

Wwell,the guys with the Vette has got a bad outer rear wheel bearing.They called an hour ago.Anyone that has been changin these bearings on a vette?.

I have searched on the net,but havent found the numbers for the bearing yet.If i had the number,we could have got the bearing locally here,and maybe we could have got them faster....but there seem to be some shims there as well.Are they located around the outer bearings?.

If they are there,i suspect they need shims too.Because when the owner called,he said the brake drum where warm,and making smoke..there maybe something more damaged there too.Hopefully just the brake shoes..

for 890 bucks they sell the whole hub and shims and backing plate and trailing arm

Thanks Spidey.I think there are some firms over here too that has them.I have never owned a vette myself,so i havent been repairing this kind of rear axle before.Doesnt seem to be a difficult job if you have the right tools.

But these guys are out at the coast in the middle of Norway now ; :P.

I can call the local Corvette specialist tomorrow who usually has severa 64's lying around. If I get the Timken Bearing number for you, will that help you along?

Not today,but if i had the numbers last evening,it would have helped.But anyway..thanks ;).
