Does muffler placement make a difference in the loudness of the sound?I read somewhere that the further back you place the mufflers,the quieter the sound will be.Thanks for your replys.

Yes, you're quite correct.
The farther back they are = the less the noise.
The farther pressurized gases & sound waves travel, the more they dissipate.
The weaker the waves are when entering the muffler, the less there is to "muffle".
Another tip: Identical mufflers, but one has a longer case...the longer case is quieter.

That and they tend to drone with less pipe behind them in most "turbo" designs. I don't know about the chambered mufflers. My Magnaflows have only 14in of pipe after the muffler and they don't drone really at all. Then again putting them at the extreme rear of the car was a space consideration not as much of a noise or performance.Central TEXAS Sleeper
