relay switch
July 31, 2009, 11:55 AM
I have a 1986 mustang I keep blowing relay switches every time I try to start it. I have traced all wires, and double checked the fuse box, I even checked my emergency shut off switch in the back. What could it be?
Thoughts?

Re: relay switch
Could you give us a bit more info? Does the engine crank over, but not fire? does it not turn at all?
and what exactly is a "relay switch"? I've never heard the term, and I've been messing with cars and electronics for 35 years

Re: relay switch
I know what a relay is, and I know what a switch is....I just never have heard the terms used to describe one part.

I know..
but the wording used in some books is relay switch..
I'm guessing it's melting from a short on the hot side.. if not fused ..

There are several relays in a 86 ford, so we're pissing in the wind without more info
